Dell VxRail Network Planning Guide

PDF

Introduction

This guide describes how to plan for VxRail deployment into physical and virtual network environments.

VxRail is an HCI solution that consolidates compute, storage, and network into a single and unified system. VxRail contains a cluster of nodes and switches that are integrated under a single point of management. All physical compute, network, and storage resources in VxRail are managed as a single shared pool. Resources are allocated to applications and services that are based on defined business and operational requirements.

VxRail contains a software bundle that is loaded onto the compute nodes. The VxRail software bundle consists of the following components:

  • VxRail Manager
  • VMware vCenter Server
  • VMware vSAN
  • VMware vSphere

VxRail is manufactured in the factory from your purchase order and delivered to your data center ready for deployment. With proper planning, you can deploy VxRail into an existing data center environment to immediately deploy applications and services. Work with teams that are associated with your network and servers to design the network and configure the switches.
