Removing the power button with fingerprint reader
CAUTION:The information in this removal section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive or M.2 2280 solid-state drive from the M.2 SSD slot, whichever is applicable.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the
system board.
NOTE:The system board can be removed with the heat sink attached.

Steps
- Remove the four screws (M1.4x2) that secure the power-button bracket to the palm-rest assembly.
- Lift the power-button bracket off the palm-rest assembly.
- Peel the power-button and fingerprint-reader cable from the top of the palm-rest assembly.
- Flip the palm-rest assembly over. Unthread the power-button and fingerprint-reader cable through the opening on the palm-rest assembly, and remove the power button with fingerprint reader.
