Installing the 3.5-inch hard drive
Prerequisites
About this task
NOTE:You may install two 3.5-inch hard drives into your computer, one into each hard-drive cage on the chassis.
The following image(s) indicate the location of the 3.5-inch hard drive and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.
Steps
- Noting the orientation of the hard drive and carrier in the image, place the 3.5-inch hard drive into the hard-drive carrier.
- Flex the carrier on the sides to ensure the pins on the carrier fit snuggly into the screw holes on the sides of the hard drive.
- Holding the hard-drive assembly securely, flip it round so that the top of the hard drive faces the bottom of the hard-drive cage as illustrated. Push the hard-drive assembly into the hard-drive cage until it locks into place.
- Connect the hard-drive data cable and power cable to the 3.5-inch hard drive.
- Place the computer in an upright position.
