Removing the system board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the Palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  3. Remove the Battery.
  4. Remove the Solid-state drive.
  5. Remove the Wireless-module shield.
  6. Remove the Display assembly.
  7. Remove the Thermal fans.
  8. Remove the Heat sink.

  2. Right display assembly cable connector (for cameras)
  3. Right PCBeam connector
  4. Right fan cable connnector
  5. Right speaker cable connector
  6. M.2 solid-state drive slot
  7. Battery cable connector
  8. Palm rest and keyboard assembly connector
  9. Left speaker cable connector
  10. Left fan cable connector
  11. Left PCBeam connector

Steps

  1. Remove the two screws (M1.6x3.4) that secure the left and right PCBeam cables to the system board.
  2. Pry off the left and right PCBeam interposers from the system board, storing them carefully for reuse.
    CAUTION:Handle the PCBeam interposers with care by the edges. Avoid touching the pins on the connectors.
  3. Disconnect the two speaker cables from the system board.
  4. Remove the four screws (M2x2) that secure the system board to the base cover.
  5. Hold the system board by the short (left and right) edges, and lift the board off the base cover with care.
