Removing the System Board

Steps

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. SD card
    2. ExpressCard
    3. battery
    4. base cover
    5. keyboard trim
    6. keyboard
    7. optical drive
    8. primary and secondary hard drive
    9. primary memory
    10. secondary memory
    11. video-card fan
    12. palmrest
    13. heatsink
    14. processor
    15. video-card heatsink
    16. video card
    17. I/O board
    18. display assembly
  3. Disconnect the processor-fan cable, LVDS cable and the coin-cell battery cable from the system board.

  4. Disconnect the power connector cable. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the computer and lift the bottom edge of the system board at a 20–degree angle.

  5. Remove the system board from the computer.
