How to replace the Wireless Module (WLAN) on a Inspiron 5640

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Wireless Module (WLAN) and a Inspiron 5640.

Removal

Base Cover

Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.

Loosen the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.

Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.

Pry the base cover near the hinges. Pry from recess points near the hinges.

Loosen the base covery by working on the left, right and, top sides to open the base cover.

Lift and remove the base cover off the palm rest assembly.

Install

Wireless Module (WLAN)

Base Cover

Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.

Place the base cover on the system and snap into place.

Tighten the screws that secure the base cover to the system.

Install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
