Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Pry the base cover near the hinges. Pry from recess points near the hinges.
Loosen the base covery by working on the left, right and, top sides to open the base cover.
Lift and remove the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Slide & lift the battery along with the battery cable off the system.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Lift the Mylar to access the memory module.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end of the memory module slot until the memory module pops up.
Slide and remove the memory module from the memory module slot on the system board.
SSD (solid state drive) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secures the thermal shield to the system board.
Slide and remove the SSD assembly from the system board.
Flip over the SSD assembly.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the thermal shield.
Remove the SSD off the thermal shield.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Speakers
Identify the speaker highlighted in blue.
To disconnect, pry up the bottom first and then pull it away to remove.
Unroute the speaker cable through the routing guides on the system.
Lift the speakers along with its cables from the system.
Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Lift the fan, along with the fan cable, off the system.
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad highlighted in blue.
Unroute the speakers cable through the routing guides on the system.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad bracket to the system.
Lift the touchpad bracket off the touchpad.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad to the system.
Lift the touchpad, along with the touchpad cable, off the system.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the left display hinge to the system.
Open the left display hinge at an angle of 90 degrees.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board to the system.
Slide and lift the I/O board at an angle from the system.
Power Button
Remove the screw that secures the power button to the system.
Power Adapter Port
Identify the power adapter port highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the right display hinge to the system.
Open the right display hinge at an angle of 90 degrees.
Disconnect the power adapter port cable from the system board.
Unroute the power adapter port cable through the routing guides on the system.
Remove the power adapter port from the slot on the system.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard and backlight cables from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
Peel the I/O board cable form the system.
Remove the screw that secures the system board to the palm rest assembly..
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Slide and remove the system board from the palm rest assembly.
Palm rest assembly
Identify the palm rest assembly highlighted in blue.
Lift the palm rest assembly at an angle to free it from the hinges and remove it from the display assembly.
Install
Palm rest assembly
Place the display assembly on a clean and flat surface with the display panel facing up.
Identify the palm rest assembly location highlighted in blue.
Slide and place the palm rest assembly at an angle on the display assembly.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Slide the system board on to the palm rest assembly at an angle.
Connect the keyboard and backlight cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Adhere the I/O board cable to the system.
Connect the display cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Install the screw that secures the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Power Adapter Port
Identify the power adapter port location highlighted in blue.
Install the power adapter port into the slot on the system.
Route the power adapter port cable through the guide on the system.
Connect the power adapter port cable to the system board.
Close the right display hinge and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the right display hinge to the system.
Power Button
Install the screw that secures the power button to the system.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Slide and place the I/O board on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the I/O board to the system.
Close the left display hinge and align with the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the left display hinge to the system.
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad location highlighted in blue.
Install the touchpad along with its cable into the slot on the system.
Install the screws to secure the touchpad to the system.
Install the touchpad bracket on the system and align with the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the touchpad bracket to the system.
Connect the touchpad cable to the connector on the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Route the speakers cable through the routing guides on the system.
Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan on the system and align with the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Connect the fan cable to its connector on the system board.
Speakers
Identify the speaker location highlighted in blue.
Place the speakers into their slots on the system.
Route the speaker cable through the routing guides on the system.
Align the pins with the connector and push down to connect.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
SSD (solid state drive) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Place the SSD on the thermal shield and align with the screw holes.
Install the screw that secures the SSD to the thermal shield.
Flip over the SSD assembly.
Slide and connect the SSD to the connector on the system board.
Install the screws that secure the thermal shield to the system board.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Lift the Mylar to access the memory module slot.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Slide & place the battery, along with the battery cable, in the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Place the base cover on the system and snap into place.
Tighten the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
