How to replace the Power Adapter Port on a Dell Pro 14 Essential PV14250

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Power Adapter Port and a PV14250 Dell Pro 14 Essential. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover, Battery Cable and reinstalling them.

Removal

Base Cover

1. Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
2. Loosen the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest.
3. Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest.
4. Pry the base cover near the top left corner of the hinge. Pry from recess points near the hinges.
5. Loosen the base cover by working on the left, right and, bottom sides to open the base cover.
6. Lift the base cover off the system.

Battery Cable

1. Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
2. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
3. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.

Power Adapter Port

1. Identify the power adapter port highlighted in blue.
2. Remove the screws that secure the right display hinge to the palm rest.
3. Open the right display hinge at an angle of 90 degrees.
4. Disconnect the power adapter cable from the system board.
5. Unroute the power adapter port cable through the routing guides on the palm rest.
6. Remove the power adapter port from the slot on the plam rest.

Install

Power Adapter Port

1. Identify the power adapter port location highlighted in blue.
2. Install the power adapter port into the slot on the palm rest.
3. Route the power adapter port cable through the guide on the palm rest.
4. Connect the power adapter port cable to the system board.
5. Close the right display hinge and align the screw holes.
6. Install the screws that secure the right display hinge to the palm rest.

Battery Cable

1. Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
2. Connect the battery cable to the system board.

Base Cover

1. Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
3. Tighten the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest.
4. Install the screws that secure the base cover to the plam rest.
