Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover.
Place fingers into the recess at the top edge and move your hands to both sides to pry the base cover.
Lift the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery.
Lift the battery off the palm rest assembly.
Turn the battery over.
Peel the battery cable from the battery.
Grasp the battery cable near the connector and lift to disconnect it from the battery.
CPU Fan
Identify the CPU fan highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secures the fan to the system board.
Holding by the edges, lift the CPU fan off the system board.
GPU Fan
Identify the GPU fan highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secures the fan to the system board.
Holding by the edges, lift the CPU fan off the system board.
Type-C Bracket
Identify the type-C bracket highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the left and right type-C brackets from the system.
Lift the type-C brackets off the system.
Heatsink
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue. Ensure the system is cooled down before removal.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink off the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the system board and heatsink (as shown in the video).
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the wireless module shield to the system board.
Lift the wireless module shield off the system board.
Disconnect the antenna cables on the wireless module.
Lift the latch and disconnect the capacitive touch panel and touchpad cables from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the power button and keyboard controller cables from the system board.
Disconnect the left and right speaker cables on the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the display cable cover to the display cable connector bracket.
Lift the display cable cover from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Lift and remove the display cable bracket off the system board.
Disconnect the camera and display cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the system board off the palm rest assembly.
Speakers
Identify the speakers highlighted in blue.
Lift the left and right speakers along with its cable from the palm rest.
Power Button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power button bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the power button bracket off the power button.
Lift the palm rest assembly slightly.
Unthread the power button cable through the opening on the palm rest assembly.
Remove the power button along with its cable off the palm rest assembly.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape that adheres the keyboard to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the tape that covers the keyboard controller board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard and backlight cables from the keyboard controller board.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the palm rest.
Position the system on flat surface as shown in video.
Unthread the cables through the openings and remove the keyboard off the palm rest.
Install
Keyboard
Position the system on flat surface as shown in video.
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue.
Align the screw holes of the keyboard with the screw holes to the palm rest assembly.
Thread the cables through the openings and place the keyboard on the palmrest.
Position the system on flat surface as shown in video.
Install the screws to secure the keyboard to the palm rest.
Adhere the tape to secure the keyboard to the palm rest assembly.
Power Button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Lift the palm rest assembly slightly.
Thread the power button cable through the opening on the palm rest assembly.
Align and place the power button along with its cable into the slot on the palm rest.
Close the palm rest assembly to its original position.
Install the power button bracket and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secures the power button bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Speakers
Identify the speakers location highlighted in blue.
Install the left and right speakers along with its cable into the slot on the palm rest.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the camera and display cables on the system board.
Place the display cable bracket on the system board.
Install the screw that secure the display cable bracket.
Place the display cable cover bracket on the system.
Install the screws that secure the display cable cover to the display cable connector bracket.
Connect the left and right speaker cables on the system board.
Connect the power button and keyboard controller cables on the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the capacitive touch panel and touchpad cables on the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the black cable to the "AUX" (black triangle).
Connect the cable with the "M" sticker to the "MAIN" (empty triangle).
Place the wireless module shield on the system board and align the screw holes.
Install the screw to secures the wireless module shield to the system board.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Place the heat sink on the system board and align the screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Type-C Bracket
Identify the type-C bracket location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the type-C brackets into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the left and right type-C brackets to the system.
GPU Fan
Identify the GPU fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secures the fan to the system board.
Connect the fan cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
CPU Fan
Identify the CPU fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan into the slot on the system board and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secures the fan to the system board.
Connect the fan cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the battery.
Adhere the battery cable to the battery.
Turn the battery over.
Install the battery into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
