Removal
Cable Cover
Identify the cable cover highlighted in blue.
Slide the cable cover lock to release the cable cover from the chassis.
Lift and slide the cable cover from the back of the computer.
Dust Filter
Identify the dust filter highlighted in blue.
Pry and remove the dust filter from the front cover.
Side Cover
Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the side cover to the chassis.
Slide and lift the side cover from the chassis.
Wireless Card (WLAN)
Identify the wireless card (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the wireless card to the system board.
Slide and lift the wireless card bracket off the wireless card.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the wireless card.
Slide and remove the wireless card from the system board.
Front Cover
Identify the front cover highlighted in blue.
Gently pry and release the tabs that secure the front cover to the chassis.
Rotate the front cover outward and slide it away from the chassis.
Graphics Card
Identify the graphics card highlighted in blue.
Lift the tab to open the card retention bracket.
Push and hold the securing tab on the graphics card slot, then lift the graphics card out of the slot.
Drive Bay
Identify the drive bay highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the optical drive data and power cables from the optical drive.
Unroute the optical drive data and power cables from the routing guide on the drive bay.
Disconnect the hard drive data and power cables from the hard drive.
Lift the drive bay at an angle to release the tabs from the chassis.
Slide and remove the drive bay from the chassis.
Coin Cell Battery Cover
Identify the coin cell battery cover highlighted in blue.
Pinch the securing tabs on the coin cell cover to release it from the coin cell battery socket.
Lift the coin cell cover off the battery socket.
Coin Cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery highlighted in blue.
Push the release lever on the coin cell battery socket to release the coin cell battery from the socket.
Remove the coin cell battery from the coin cell battery socket.
Solid State Drive (SSD)
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
Slide and lift the solid state drive from the SSD slot on the system board.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Remove the memory module from the memory module slot.
Processor Fan and Heat Sink Assembly
Identify the processor fan and heat sink assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the processor fan cable from the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the processor fan and heat sink assembly to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the processor fan and heat sink assembly from the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Press down and push the release lever away from the processor to release it from the securing tab, then fully extend the lever.
Lift the processor cover completely.
Remove the processor from the processor socket.
External Port Module
Identify the external port module highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the external port cover to the external port module.
Loosen the screw that secures the external port module to the system board.
Lift the external port module at an angle to remove the tabs from the slot on the chassis, then remove it off the system.
Serial Port Module
Identify the serial port module highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the serial port module to the chassis.
Disconnect the serial port module cable from the system board.
Push and lift the serial port module off the system board.
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the front I/O bracket to the chassis.
Remove and lift the front I/O bracket from the chassis.
Disconnect the intrusion switch, speaker and power button cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the chassis.
Remove the screw mount that secures the system board to the chassis.
Lift the system board at an angle and remove it from the chassis.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
With a plastic scraper, scrape the old thermal pad from the chassis.
Peel off the plastic film from one side of the new thermal pad.
Flip to rotate the thermal pad.
With your finger in contact with the plastic film on the other side of the thermal pad, adhere the new thermal pad on the chassis.
Peel off the plastic film from one side of the new thermal pad.
Slide the front I/O ports into the slots on the chassis and match the screw holes on the system board with those on the chassis.
Install the screw mount that secures the system board to the chassis.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the chassis.
Connect the intrusion switch, speaker and power button cables to the system board.
Place the front I/O bracket bracket on the system.
Install the screw that secures the front I/O bracket to the chassis.
Serial Port Module
Identify the serial port module location highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws on the serial port module.
Insert the serial port module into the slot on the chassis.
Connect the serial port module cable to the system board.
Install the screws that secure the serial port module to the chassis.
External Port Module
Identify the external port module location highlighted in blue.
Place the external port module at an angle and align the tabs on the module to the slots on the chassis.
Tighten the screw that secures the external port module to the system board.
Tighten the screw that secures the external port cover to the external port module.
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Ensure that the release lever and the processor cover are fully extended in the open position.
Align the processor with the triangle mark on the processor and system board.
Align the notches on the processor with the tabs on the socket and place it on the socket.
Once the processor is fully seated, close the cover and push the lever down, securing it under the tab.
Processor Fan and Heat Sink Assembly
Identify the processor fan and heat sink assembly location highlighted in blue.
Apply paste or pad included with the heatsink. Apply in a spiral pattern.
Install the processor fan and heat sink assembly on the system board and align it with screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the processor fan and heat sink assembly to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Connect the processor fan cable to the system board.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the memory module slot.
Install the memory module into the slot and press down it until the securing clips lock in place.
Solid State Drive (SSD)
Coin Cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery location highlighted in blue.
Insert the coin cell battery into the socket with the positive side (+) label facing up.
Snap the coin cell battery into the socket.
Coin Cell Battery Cover
Identify the coin cell battery cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the coin cell battery cover with the battery socket and press it into place.
Drive Bay
Identify the drive bay location highlighted in blue.
Slide and secure one side of the drive bay to the chassis.
Press down the other end of the drive bay securing the tabs on the drive bay with the slots on the chassis.
Connect the hard drive data and power cables to the hard drive.
Connect the optical drive data and power cables to the optical drive.
Route the optical drive data and power cables through the routing guide on the drive bay.
Graphics Card
Identify the graphics card location highlighted in blue.
Align the graphics card with the slot on the system board.
Install the graphics card into the connector and press down firmly.
Rotate the card retention bracket towards the chassis until it snaps into place.
Front Cover
Identify the front cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the front cover tabs into the slots on the chassis.
Rotate the front cover toward the chassis and press it into place.
Wireless Card (WLAN)
Identify the wireless card (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the wireless card into the system board.
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Slide and install the wireless card bracket on the wireless card.
Install the screw that secures the wireless card to the system board.
Side Cover
Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the side cover onto the chassis.
Tighten the screws that secure the side cover to the chassis.
Dust Filter
Identify the dust filter location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the dust filter with the grooves on the front cover.
Press the dust filter into place on the front cover.
Cable Cover
Identify the cable cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the cable cover to the slots on the back of the chassis.
Insert the tabs on the cable cover into the slots on the back of the chassis and slide downwards.
Slide the cable cover lock to secure the cable cover to the chassis.
