Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Pry the base cover to release it from the system - pry from the recess areas near the hinges.
Lift the right side of the base cover and remove it off the palmrest and keyboard assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Option Battery
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.
Option SSD (Solid State Drive)
Display Cables
Identify the display cables highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the display cable from the system board and unroute from the guides on the system fan.
Disconnect the VGA board cable and unroute from the guides on the system fan.
System fan
Identify the system fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the palmrest and keyboard board assembly.
Remove the fan from the system.
Option Heatsink
Display assembly
Identify the display assembly highlighted in blue.
Peel off the tape securing the WLAN cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the left and right hinges to the system.
Lift the hinges up from the system - may require a little force.
Lift the system (palmrest & keyboard assembly) until it separates from the hinges and remove.
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Open the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable and touchpad cable from the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable.
Lift up the tape and disconnect the DC-in cable.
Remove the screws that secure the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board.
Lift the system board off the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, install the system board into the system.
Install the screws that secure the system board.
Install the screws that secure the system board.
Connect the DC-in cable and adhere the tape.
Connect the speaker cable.
Connect the I/O board cable and touchpad cable to the system board. Close the latches to secure.
Display assembly
Position the display with the hinges open to the maximum.
Install the system (palmrest and keyboard assembly) under the hinges on the display assembly.
Press the hinges down to the system - aligning the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the left and right hinges to the system.
Adhere the tape to secure the WLAN cables to the system board.
Option Heatsink
System fan
Identify the system fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan into the system, using the alignment posts.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables highlighted in blue.
Route the VGA board cable through the routing guides on the fan and connect the cable to the system board.
Route the display cable through the routing guides on the fan and connect the display cable, closing the latch to secure.
Option SSD (Solid State Drive)
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Option Battery
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Place the base cover on the system, installing the left side first over the VGA port. Press until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palmrest and keyboard assembly.
