Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Pry the base cover to release it from the system - pry from the recess areas near the hinges.
Lift the right side of the base cover and remove it off the palmrest and keyboard assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Option Battery
Hard Drive
Identify the hard drive highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the hard drive cable from the system board.
Peel the tape that secures the hard drive cable to the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the hard drive.
Lift the hard drive from the system.
Speaker
Touchpad Assembly
Identify the touchpad assembly highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad bracket.
Peel the tape that secures the touchpad bracket.
Remove the touchpad bracket from the system.
Open the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system board.
Peel the tapes that secure the touchpad to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad to the system.
Remove the touchpad from the system
Option SSD (Solid State Drive)
I/O board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
Open the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable from the system board.
Peel the I/O board cable from the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Remove the I/O board and the cable from the system.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the display cable from the system board and unroute from the guides on the system fan.
Disconnect the VGA board cable and unroute from the guides on the system fan.
System fan
Identify the system fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the palmrest and keyboard board assembly.
Remove the fan from the system.
VGA Daughterboard
Identify the VGA daughter board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the VGA daughterboard to the system.
Remove the VGA daughterboard from the system.
Power button board
Identify the power button board highlighted in blue.
Peel the cable from the system to unroute.
Remove the screw that secures the power button board.
Remove the power button board from the system.
Display assembly
Identify the display assembly highlighted in blue.
Peel off the tape securing the WLAN cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the left and right hinges to the system.
Lift the hinges up from the system - may require a little force.
Lift the system (palmrest & keyboard assembly) until it separates from the hinges and remove.
Power Adapter Port
Identify the power adapter port highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the power adapter port to the palmrest and keyboard assembly.
Lift the tape and disconnect the power adapter cable from the system board.
Remove the power adapter port from the system.
System board Assembly
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Open the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable and touchpad cable from the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable.
Lift up the tape and disconnect the DC-in cable.
Remove the screws that secure the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board.
Lift the system board off the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard assembly highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard and bracket to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard and bracket to the system.
Lift the metal bracket from the system
Remove the keyboard from the system
Install
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard assembly location highlighted in blue
Install the keyboard into the system.
Install the metal bracket.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard and bracket to the system.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard and bracket to the system.
System board Assembly
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, install the system board into the system.
Install the screws that secure the system board.
Install the screws that secure the system board.
Connect the DC-in cable and adhere the tape.
Connect the speaker cable.
Connect the I/O board cable and touchpad cable to the system board. Close the latches to secure.
Power Adapter Port
Identify the power adapter port location highlighted in blue.
Install the power adapter port into the slot on the system.
Connect the power adapter cable to the system board and adhere the tape.
Install the screw that secures the power adapter port.
Display assembly
Position the display with the hinges open to the maximum.
Install the system (palmrest and keyboard assembly) under the hinges on the display assembly.
Press the hinges down to the system - aligning the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the left and right hinges to the system.
Adhere the tape to secure the WLAN cables to the system board.
Power button board
Identify the power button board location highlighted in blue.
Install the power button board into the slot on the system.
Install the screw that secures the power button board.
VGA Daughterboard
Identify the VGA daughter board location highlighted in blue.
Install the VGA daughterboard and align the screw holes on the system.
Install the screws that secure the VGA daughterboard.
System fan
Identify the system fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan into the system, using the alignment posts.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables highlighted in blue.
Route the VGA board cable through the routing guides on the fan and connect the cable to the system board.
Route the display cable through the routing guides on the fan and connect the display cable, closing the latch to secure.
I/O board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, install the I/O board into the system.
Install the screws that secure the I/O board to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Connect the I/O board cable to the system board, close the latch & adhere the cable to the system.
Option SSD (Solid State Drive)
Touchpad Assembly
Identify the touchpad assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the touch pad into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the touch pad.
Adhere the tapes that secure the touch pad.
Connect the touchpad cable into the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure.
Install the touch pad bracket.
Adhere the tape that secures the bracket to the system.
Install the screws that secure the touch pad bracket.
Speaker
Hard Drive
Identify the hard drive assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align the screw holes on the hard drive with the screw holes on the system.
Install the screws that secure the hard drive.
Adhere the tape that secures the hard drive cable.
Connect the hard drive cable to the system board.
Option Battery
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Place the base cover on the system, installing the left side first over the VGA port. Press until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palmrest and keyboard assembly.
