Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Pry the base cover near the hinges. Pry from recess points near the hinges.
Loosen the base covery by working on the left, right and, bottom sides to open the base cover.
Lift to remove the base cover.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the battery off the palm rest assembly.
Turn the battery over to remove the cable from the battery.
Unroute the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery.
Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the battery.
Lift the battery cable away from the battery.
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.
SSD (Solid State Drive)
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Peel the adhesive tape that secures the I/O board cable connector.
Open the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable from the system board.
Peel the adhesive tape that secures the WLAN and I/O board cables to the fan.
Unroute the WLAN antennae cables from the routing guides on the fan.
Remove the screws that secure the fan.
Slide and lift the fan to remove. Note the routing of the cables.
Heat sink
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue. Ensure the system is cooled down before removal.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift and remove the heat sink off the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the system board and heatsink (as shown in the video).
Power Adapter port
Identify the power adapter port highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the right hinge to the system.
Lift to open the right hinge.
Disconnect the power adapter port cable from the connector on the system board.
Remove the power adapter port from the system.
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws securing the USB type-C bracket to the system board.
Remove the USB type-C bracket from the system board.
Peel the adhesive tape that secures the I/O board cable connector.
Open the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable from the system board.
Peel the adhesive tape that secures the display cable connector.
Open the latch and disconnect the display board cable from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to palm rest assembly.
Slide and lift the system board to remove. Slightly shift left to clear the ports.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board into the slot on the palmrest, using the alignment posts.
Install the screws to secure the system board to the palmrest.
Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
Connect the touchpad cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the display board cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Adhere the tape to secure the display cable to the system board.
Connect the IO board cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Adhere the tape that secures the I/O board cable connector.
Install the USB type-C bracket on the system board.
Install the screws securing the USB type-C bracket to the system board.
Power Adapter port
Identify the power adapter port location highlighted in blue.
Install the power adapter port into the slot on the system.
Connect the power adapter port cable to the connector on the system board.
Close the right hinge and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the right hinge to the system.
Heat sink
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Place the heat sink on the system board and align the screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue.
Slide the fan into the slot and align the screw holes. Careful of the cables.
Route the WLAN antennae cables through the routing guides on the fan.
Connect the IO board cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Adhere the tape that secures the I/O board cable connector.
Adhere the tape to secure the WLAN and I/O board cables to fan.
Install the screws to secure the fan to the system.
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
SSD (Solid State Drive)
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the battery.
Route the battery cable through the routing guides on the battery.
Turn the battery over.
Install the battery into the slot on the system, aligning the screw holes.
Tighten the screws to secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover tabs to the slots, press the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the screws to secure the base cover to the chassis.
