Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #5, remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Place fingers into the recess at the top edge and move your hands to both sides to pry the base cover.
Lift the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the system board.
Unhook and lift the battery connector bracket off the system board.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
To remove, use the pull tab to lift the battery slightly and release it from the two hooks on the bottom edge.
Display Assembly
Identify the display assembly highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Lift the display cable bracket from the system board.
Disconnect the camera and display cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the camera and display cable holder to the system board.
Remove the camera and display assembly cable holder from the system board.
Open the display to a 90 degree angle and place the computer at the edge of a flat table.
Remove the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the system.
Lift the display assembly from the palm rest assembly.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the wireless module bracket. Ensure the washer holding the screw stays in place.
Lift the wireless module bracket from the system board.
Disconnect the wireless module cables from the wireless module.
Lift the latch and disconnect the capacitive touch panel and haptic module cables.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard control board and power button cables.
Disconnect the left and right speakers cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fans to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the system board assembly away from the palm rest.
Power Button
Identify the power button with fingerprint reader highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secures the power button bracket to the palm rest.
Lift the power button bracket off the palm rest.
Peel the tape that secures the power button cable to the palm rest.
Lift the palm rest slightly.
Unthread the power button cable through the opening on the palm rest.
Remove the fingerprint reader along with its cable off the palm rest.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the palm rest.
Position the system on flat surface as shown with the keyboard facing up.
Unthread the cables through the openings and remove the keyboard off the palm rest.
Palm rest Assembly
Position the system on flat surface as shown.
After all the parts are removed, the palm rest assembly is remaining. No additional removals are needed.
Install
Palm rest Assembly
Identify the palm rest assembly highlighted in blue and place on a clean, flat surface.
Keyboard
Position the palmrest on flat surface as shown.
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue.
Align the keyboard tabs through the openings of the palm rest.
Thread the cables through the openings and place the keyboard on the palmrest.
Position the palmrest on flat surface as shown.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the palm rest.
Power Button
Identify the power button with fingerprint reader location highlighted in blue.
Lift the palm rest slightly.
Thread the power button cable through the opening on the palm rest.
Align and place the power button along with its cable into the slot on the palm rest.
Lower the palm rest.
Adhere the tape that secures the power button cable to the palm rest.
Install the power button bracket and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secures the power button bracket to the palm rest.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board assembly on the system and align it with the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Install the screws to secure the fans to the palm rest.
Connect the left and right speakers cables to the system board.
Connect the keyboard control board and power button cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the capacitive touch panel and haptic module cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (filled triangle).
Connect the cable with white sticker to the main (empty triangle).
Install the wireless module bracket on the system board.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the wireless module bracket.
Display Assembly
Identify the display assembly location highlighted in blue.
Place the palm rest and keyboard assembly at the edge of a flat table.
Install the display assembly and align the screw holes of the palm rest and display hinges.
Install the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the system.
Close the display assembly, turn the computer over and place it on the flat surface.
Install the camera and display assembly cable holder back to the system board.
Install the screws that secure the camera and display assembly cable holder to the system board.
Connect the camera and display cables to the system board.
Install the display cable bracket on the system board and align the screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the display assembly cable bracket to the system board.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Align the battery at an angle so that the tabs fit into the hooks. Lower the battery and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Slide the hook of the bracket under the system board and install the bracket to the system board.
Tighten the screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Using a Torx #5, install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
