How to replace the Power Button on a Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04250

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Power Button and a Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04250. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover, Battery Cable, Display Assembly, I/O Board and reinstalling them.

Removal

1. Base Cover
   • Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
   • Loosen the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
   • Pry the base cover starting from the top left corner at the hinge and continuing on all sides to loosen it from the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the base cover from the palm rest assembly.
2. Battery Cable
   • Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
   • Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
   • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
3. Display Assembly
   • Identify the display assembly highlighted in blue.
   • Peel the tape that secures the display cable to the latch on the system board.
   • Lift the latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
   • Unroute the display cable from the routing guide on the palm rest assembly.
   • Open the display assembly to a 180 degree angle and place the system on a clean, flat surface as shown.
   • Remove the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the palm rest assembly.
   • Gently lift the display assembly off the palm rest assembly.
4. I/O Board
   • Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
   • Remove the screws that secures the left display hinge to the palm rest assembly.
   • Open the left display hinge at an angle of 90 degrees.
   • Remove the screw that secures the I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Slide and remove the I/O board from the palm rest assembly.
5. Power Button
   • Identify the power button with optional fingerprint reader cable highlighted in blue.
   • Remove the screw that secures the power button to the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the power button along with optional fingerprint reader cable off the palm rest assembly.

Install

1. Power Button
   • Identify the power button with optional fingerprint reader cable location highlighted in blue.
   • Install the power button with optional fingerprint reader cable into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screw that secures the power button to the palm rest assembly.
2. I/O Board
   • Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
   • Slide and place the I/O board on the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screw that secures the I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Close the left display hinge and align it with the screw holes.
   • Install the screws that secures the left display hinge to the palm rest assembly.
3. Display Assembly
   • Identify the display assembly location highlighted in blue.
   • Place the display assembly on the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the palm rest assembly.
   • Close the display assembly and place the system on a clean, flat surface with the palm rest assembly facing up.
   • Route the display cable through the routing guide on the palm rest assembly.
   • Connect the display cable to the system board and close the latch to secure.
   • Adhere the tape that secures the display cable to the latch on the system board.
4. Battery Cable
   • Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
   • Connect the battery cable to the system board.
5. Base Cover
   • Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
   • Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
   • Tighten the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
