How to replace the Touchpad on a Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04250

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Touchpad and a Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04250. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover, Battery Cable, Battery and reinstalling them.

Removal

1. Base Cover
   • Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
   • Loosen the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
   • Pry the base cover starting from the top left corner at the hinge and continuing on all sides to loosen it from the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the base cover from the palm rest assembly.
2. Battery Cable
   • Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
   • Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
   • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
3. Battery
   • Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
   • Remove the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
   • Lift the battery, along with the battery cable, from the palm rest assembly.
4. Touchpad
   • Identify the touchpad highlighted in blue.
   • Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the touchpad.
   • Peel the touchpad cable from the touchpad.
   • Remove the screws that secure the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the screws that secures the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
   • Lift the touchpad from the palm rest assembly.

Install

1. Touchpad
   • Identify the touchpad location highlighted in blue.
   • Align it with the screw holes and place the touchpad on the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws to secures the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws to secure the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
   • Connect the touchpad cable to the touchpad and close the latch to secure.
2. Battery
   • Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
   • Install the battery, along with the battery cable, into the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
3. Battery Cable
   • Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
   • Connect the battery cable to the system board.
4. Base Cover
   • Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
   • Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
   • Tighten the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
