Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Pry the base cover starting from the top left corner at the hinge and continuing on all sides to loosen it from the palm rest assembly.
Remove the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the battery, along with the battery cable, from the palm rest assembly.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the bracket to the wireless module.
Lift the bracket from the wireless module.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the wireless module.
Slide and lift the wireless module from the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD assembly to the system board.
Slide and lift the SSD assembly from the system board.
Flip over the SSD assembly.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the bracket.
Remove the SSD from the bracket.
Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Unroute the fan cable from the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the fan along with the fan cable from the palm rest assembly.
Heat Sink
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the heat sink from the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the system board and heatsink (as shown in the video).
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the right display hinge to the palm rest assembly.
Open the right display hinge at an angle of 90 degrees.
Peel the tape that secures the display cable latch to its connector on the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the I/O board and touchpad cables from the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the USB type-C bracket to the system board.
Lift the USB type-C bracket from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the system board off the palm rest assembly.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Slide and place the system board on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secures the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Install the USB type-C bracket on the system board.
Install the screws that secure the USB type-C bracket to the system board.
Connect the I/O board and the touchpad cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
Connect the display cable to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Adhere the tape that secures the display cable latch to its connector to the system board.
Close the right display hinge and align it with the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the right display hinge to the palm rest assembly.
Heat Sink
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Align and install the heat sink on the system board.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan, along with the battery cable, on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the palm rest assembly.
Route the fan cable through the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the SSD into the bracket.
Install the screw that secures the SSD to the bracket.
Flip over the SSD assembly.
Slide and insert the SSD assembly into the slot on the system board.
Install the screw that secures the SSD assembly to the system board.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Slide and insert the wireless module into the slot on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket on the wireless module.
Install the screw that secures the bracket to the wireless module.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Install the battery, along with the battery cable, on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to its connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Place the base cover and press on the sides of the cover to snap it into place.
Tighten the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
