Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Pry the base cover starting from the top left corner at the hinge and continuing on all sides to loosen it from the palm rest assembly.
Remove the base cover from the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the battery, along with the battery cable, from the palm rest assembly.
Display Assembly
Identify the display assembly highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape that secures the display cable to the latch on the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the display and camera cables from the system board.
Unroute the display and camera cables from the routing guide on the palm rest assembly.
Open the display assembly to a 180 degree angle and place the system on a clean, flat surface as shown.
Remove the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the palm rest assembly.
Gently lift the display assembly off the palm rest assembly.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secures the left display hinge to the palm rest assembly.
Open the left display hinge at an angle of 90 degrees.
Remove the screw that secures the I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Slide and remove the I/O board from the palm rest assembly.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the bracket to the wireless module.
Lift the bracket from the wireless module.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the wireless module.
Slide and remove the wireless card from the system board
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD assembly to the system board.
Slide and lift the SSD assembly from the system board.
Flip over the SSD assembly.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the mounting bracket.
Slide and remove the SSD from the mounting bracket.
Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Unroute the fan cable from the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the fan along with the fan cable from the palm rest assembly.
Power Button
Identify the power button with optional fingerprint reader cable highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the power button to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the power button along with optional fingerprint reader cable off the palm rest assembly.
Speakers
Identify the speakers highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Unroute the speaker and the wireless module cables from the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Lift the speakers, along with the cables, from the palm rest assembly.
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the touchpad.
Peel the touchpad cable from the touchpad.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secures the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the touchpad from the palm rest assembly.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the USB type-C bracket to the system board.
Remove the USB type-C bracket off the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Slide and remove the system board assembly from the palm rest assembly.
Palm rest assembly
Identify the palm rest assembly highlighted in blue.
Install
Palm rest assembly
Identify the palm rest assembly location highlighted in blue.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Slide and place the system board assembly on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secures the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Install the USB type-C bracket on the system board.
Install the screws that secure the USB type-C bracket to the system board.
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad location highlighted in blue.
Align it with the screw holes and place the touchpad on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws to secures the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws to secure the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the touchpad cable to the touchpad and close the latch to secure.
Speakers
Identify the speakers location highlighted in blue.
Place the speakers into their slots on the palm rest assembly.
Route the speaker and the wireless module cables through the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the speaker cables to the system board.
Connect the touchpad cable to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Power Button
Identify the power button with optional fingerprint reader cable location highlighted in blue.
Install the power button with optional fingerprint reader cable into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screw that secures the power button to the palm rest assembly.
Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan, along with the battery cable, into the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the palm rest assembly.
Route the fan cable through the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Slide and insert the SSD into the mounting bracket.
Install the screw that secures the SSD to the mounting bracket.
Flip over the SSD assembly.
Slide and insert the SSD assembly into the slot on the system board.
Install the screw that secures the SSD assembly to the system board.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Slide and insert the wireless card into the slot on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Slide and install the bracket on the wireless module.
Install the screw that secures the bracket to the wireless module.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Slide and place the I/O board on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screw that secures the I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Close the left display hinge and align it with the screw holes.
Install the screws that secures the left display hinge to the palm rest assembly.
Display Assembly
Identify the display assembly location highlighted in blue.
Place the display assembly on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the palm rest assembly.
Close the display assembly and place the system on a clean, flat surface with the palm rest assembly facing up.
Route the display cable through the routing guide on the palm rest assembly.
Connect the display cable to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Adhere the tape that secures the display cable to the latch on the system board.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Install the battery, along with the battery cable, into the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
