Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Pry open the base cover from the recesses that are located in the U shaped indents at the top edge of the base cover near the hinges.
Lift the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the battery off the palm rest assembly.
Flip the battery.
Unroute the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery.
Disconnect and remove the battery cable from the battery.
Speakers
Identify the speakers highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the speakers to the palm rest assembly.
Unroute the speaker cables from the routing guides on the palm rest assembly.
Lift the speakers along with their cable off the palm rest assembly.
Smart Card Reader
Identify the smart card reader highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the smart card reader cable from the USH board.
Peel the smart card reader flexible flat cable from the touchpad.
Remove the screws that secure the smart card reader to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the smart card reader along with its cable off the palm rest assembly.
Install
Smart Card Reader
Identify the smart card reader location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the smart card reader into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the smart card reader to the palm rest assembly.
Adhere the smartcard reader flexible flat cable on the touchpad.
Connect the smart card cable on the USH board and close the latch to secure.
Speakers
Identify the speakers location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, place the speakers into the slots on the palm rest assembly.
Route the speaker cables through the routing channels on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the speakers to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the speaker cable to its connector on the I/O board.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Place and connect the battery cable to its connector on the battery.
Route the battery cable through the routing guides on the battery.
Flip the battery.
Align and place the battery into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the base cover on the palm rest assembly and snap it into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
