Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Pry open the base cover from the recesses that are located in the U shaped indents at the top edge of the base cover near the hinges.
Lift the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the battery off the palm rest assembly.
Flip the battery.
Unroute the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery.
Disconnect and remove the battery cable from the battery.
SSD
Wireless Card (WLAN)
Identify the wireless card (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the system board.
Lift the wireless card bracket from the WLAN card.
Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the WLAN card.
Slide and remove the WLAN card from the system board.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, spread apart the securing clips on the memory module slot until the memory module pops up.
Slide and remove the memory module from the system board.
Display Cable
Identify the display cable highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Lift the display cable bracket off the system board.
Wireless Card (WWAN)
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secures the system board to the palm rest assembly. Remove in order.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the system board assembly off the palm rest assembly.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the fingerprint reader bracket to the I/O board.
Remove the fingerprint reader bracket from the I/O board.
Disconnect the darwin cable from the I/O board.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Slide and remove the I/O board from the palm rest assembly.
Power Button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power button to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the power button off the palm rest assembly.
Keyboard Assembly
Identify the keyboard assembly highlighted in blue.
Unroute the WLAN antenna cables from the routing guides on the keyboard bracket.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the keyboard assembly off the palm rest assembly.
Keyboard
Flip the keyboard assembly over as shown.
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the keyboard bracket.
Lift the keyboard off the keyboard bracket.
Install
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the keyboard on the keyboard bracket.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard to the keyboard bracket.
Flip the keyboard assembly over as shown.
Keyboard Assembly
Identify the keyboard assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the keyboard assembly on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the keyboard assembly to the palm rest assembly.
Route the WLAN antenna cables through the routing guides on the keyboard bracket.
Power Button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the power button on the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the power button to the palm rest assembly.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the I/O board on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the speaker cable to the I/O board.
Connect the darwin cable on the I/O board.
Install the fingerprint reader bracket on the I/O board.
Install the screw that secures the fingerprint reader bracket to the I/O board.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the system board assembly on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secures the system board to the palm rest assembly. Install in order.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the palm rest assembly.
Wireless Card (WWAN)
Display Cable
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
Install the display cable bracket on the system board.
Install the screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the memory module on the system board.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Wireless Card (WLAN)
Identify the wireless card (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the WLAN card into the slot on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the wireless card bracket on the wireless card.
Install the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the system board.
SSD
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Place and connect the battery cable to its connector on the battery.
Route the battery cable through the routing guides on the battery.
Flip the battery.
Align and place the battery into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the base cover on the palm rest assembly and snap it into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
