Removal
Stand
Place the system on the flat and clean surface as shown.
Identify the stand highlighted in blue.
Press and hold down on the tab that secures the stand to the display assembly base.
Lift the stand off the display assembly base.
Back Cover
Identify the back cover highlighted in blue.
Place your palm in the middle of the back cover, and then pry the back cover from the display assembly base starting from the top corners.
Slide and lift the back cover off the display assembly base.
2.5 Hard Drive Assy
I/O Cover
Identify the I/O cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O cover to the display assembly base.
Lift the I/O cover off the display assembly base.
System Board Shield
Identify the system board shield highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the system board shield to the display assembly base.
Lift the system board shield off the display assembly base.
SSD
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Slide and remove the memory module from the memory module slot.
Wireless Card
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the wireless card bracket.
Remove the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the antenna cables (black and white cables) from the WLAN.
Slide and remove the WLAN card from the connector.
Coin Cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery highlighted in blue.
Push the release lever on the coin cell battery socket to release it from the socket.
Lift the coin cell battery from the socket.
Media Card Reader
Identify the media card reader highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the media card reader to the display assembly base.
Lift the latch and disconnect the media card reader cable from the system board.
Slide and remove the media card reader along with its cable from the slot.
Retractable Camera Assy
Identify the retractable camera assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the camera cable from the system board.
Peel the tape that secures the camera cable to the display assembly base.
Remove the screws that secure the retractable camera assembly to the display assembly base.
Slide and remove the camera assembly from the display assembly base.
Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Unroute the fan cable from the routing guide on the display assembly base.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the display assembly base.
Lift the fan along with its cable off the display assembly base.
Stand Hinges
Identify the stand hinges highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the right and left stand hinges to the display assembly base.
Lift the stand hinges off the display assembly base.
Power Button Board
Identify the power button board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the left stand hinge to the display assembly base.
Lift the left display hinge from the palm rest.
Remove the screw that secures the power button board to the display assembly base.
Peel the tape that secures the power button board cable to the power button board.
Lift the power button board from the tabs on the display assembly base.
Lift the latch and disconnect the power button board cable from the power button board.
Lift the power button board off the display assembly base.
Speakers
Identify the speakers highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Unroute the speaker cable from the routing guides on the display assembly base.
Lift the speaker along with its cable off the display assembly base.
Heat Sink
Identify the heatsink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heatsink. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink off the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the backlight and fan cables from the system board.
Disconnect the speaker and microphone module cables from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the media card reader, power button board and display cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the display assembly base.
Remove the solid state drive screw mount that secures the system board to the display assembly base.
Lift the system board off the display assembly base.
Microphones
Identify the microphones highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the microphone module to the display assembly base.
Peel the tape that secures the microphone cable to the display assembly base.
Unroute and remove the microphone cable from the routing guides on the display assembly base.
Lift the microphone module off the display assembly base.
Middle Frame Assembly
After all the parts are removed, the middle frame assembly is remaining. No additional removals are needed.
Install
Middle Frame Assembly
Identify the middle frame assembly highlighted in blue.
Microphones
Identify the microphones location highlighted in blue.
Place the microphones into the slot and align with screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the microphone module to the display assembly base.
Route the microphone cable through the routing guides on the display assembly base.
Adhere the tape that secures the microphone cable to the display assembly base.
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board on the display assembly base and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the display assembly base.
Install the solid state drive screw mount that secures the system board to the display assembly base.
Connect the media card reader, power button board and display cables on the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the backlight and fan cables on the system board.
Connect the speaker and microphone module cables on the system board.
Heat Sink
Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heatsink assembly into the slot on the system board.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Speakers
Identify the speakers location highlighted in blue.
Install the speakers into their slots on the display assembly base.
Route the speaker cable to the routing guides on the display assembly base.
Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
Power Button Board
Identify the power button board location highlighted in blue.
Connect the power button board cable on the power button board. Close the latch to secure.
Use the tabs to line up the power button board, then slide it into the slot on the display assembly base.
Replace the screw that secures the power button board to the display assembly base.
Adhere the tape that secures the power button cable to the power button board.
Place the left display hinge on the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the left stand hinge to the display assembly base.
Stand Hinges
Identify the display hinges location highlighted in blue.
Place the display hinges on the display assembly base and align with screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the display hinges to the display assembly base.
Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue.
Align and install the fan into the slot on the display assembly base.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the display assembly base.
Route the fan cable through the routing guide on the display assembly base.
Connect the fan cable from the system board.
Retractable Camera Assy
Identify the retractable camera assembly location highlighted in blue.
Slide and place the retractable camera assembly on the display assembly base.
Install the screws that secure the retractable camera assembly to the display assembly base.
Adhere the tape that secures the camera cable to the display assembly base.
Connect the camera cable to the system board.
Media Card Reader
Identify the heatsink assembly location highlighted in blue.
Place the media card reader along with its cable into the slot and align with screw holes.
Connect the media card reader cable to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Replace the screw that secures the media card reader to the display assembly base.
Coin Cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery location highlighted in blue.
Insert the coin cell battery into the socket with the positive side (+) label facing up.
Snap the battery in the socket.
Wireless Card
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Install the screw that secures the wireless card bracket.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
SSD
System Board Shield
Identify the system board shield location highlighted in blue.
Place the system board shield on the display assembly base and align with screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the system board shield to the display assembly base.
I/O Cover
Identify the I/O cover location highlighted in blue.
Place the I/O cover on the display assembly base and align with screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the I/O cover to the display assembly base.
2.5 Hard Drive Assy
Back Cover
Identify the back cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the back cover to the display assembly base.
Press along the sides to snap the back cover into place on the display assembly base.
Stand
Identify the stand location highlighted in blue.
Align the stand to the slot with the display assembly base.
Insert the stand into place into the slot on the display assembly base.
