Removal
Stand
Identify the stand highlighted in blue.
Press and hold down on the tab that secures the stand to the display assembly base.
Slide and lift the stand off the display assembly base.
Back Cover
Identify the back cover highlighted in blue.
Press down on the tab and slide the back cover to release.
Lift the back cover off the display assembly base.
System Board Shield
Identify the system board shield highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the system board shield to the display assembly base.
Lift the system board shield off the display assembly base.
I/O Cover
Identify the I/O cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O cover to the display assembly base.
Lift the I/O cover off the display assembly base.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Push both tabs on the DIMM door inwards, releasing it from the system board shield, then lift the DIMM door off the system board shield.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module from the memory module slot.
SSD
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Heat Sink
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heatsink. Loosen in reverse sequential order.
Lift the heat sink off the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Press down and push the release lever away from the processor to release it from the securing tab.
Extend the release lever completely and open the processor cover.
Gently lift the processor from the processor socket.
Bottom Cover
Identify the bottom cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the bottom cover to the display assembly base.
Lift the bottom cover off the display assembly base.
I/O Bracket
Identify the I/O bracket highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O bracket to the display assembly base.
Lift the I/O bracket off the display assembly base.
System board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the touchscreen, display backlight and fan cables from the system board.
Open the latch and disconnect the audio, high speed and power cables from the system board.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the camera cable from the system board.
Pinching the securing clips of the display cable connector, and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the display assembly base.
Remove the screw that secure the system board to the display assembly base.
Gently lift the system board off the display assembly base.
Install
System board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Gently place the system board on the display assembly base.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the display assembly base.
Install the screw that secure the system board to the display assembly base.
Connect the touchscreen, display backlight and fan cables to the system board.
Connect the audio, high speed and power cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure it.
Connect the camera cable to the system board.
Connect the display cable to the system board.
I/O Bracket
Identify the I/O bracket location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the I/O bracket on the display assembly base.
Install the screws that secure the I/O bracket to the display assembly base.
Bottom Cover
Identify the bottom cover location highlighted in blue.
Place the bottom cover on the display assembly base and align with screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the bottom cover to the display assembly base.
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Ensure that the release lever on the processor socket is fully extended in the open position.
Ensure that the pin 1 indicator on the processor socket and the CPU are aligned.
Align the notches on the processor with the tabs on the processor socket and place the processor in the processor socket.
When the processor is fully seated in the socket, pivot the release lever down and place it under the tab on the processor.
Heat Sink
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heatsink into the slot on the system board.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
SSD
Memory Module
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab and slide the memory module firmly into the slot at an angle on the memory module slot.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Place the DIMM door into its slot on the system board shield and press it into place, securing it.
I/O Cover
Identify the I/O cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the I/O slots with the I/O ports, then place the I/O cover on the display assembly base and align with screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the I/O cover to the display assembly base.
System Board Shield
Identify the system board shield location highlighted in blue.
Place the system board shield on the display assembly base and align with screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the system board shield to the display assembly base.
Back Cover
Identify the back cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the back cover to the display assembly base.
Place and slide the back cover into place on the display assembly base.
Stand
Identify the stand location highlighted in blue.
At an angle, align the tabs on the stand with the slots on the display assembly base.
Slide the stand into place into the slot on the display assembly base.
