This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Solid State Drive (SSD) 2280 and a Inspiron 5420. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover, SSD 2280 and reinstalling them.
Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Loosen the captive screws on the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the bottom left and continue to work on the sides
Lift the base cover off the system.
SSD 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system.
Slide and lift the solid state drive (SSD) from the system board.
Install
SSD 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notches on the solid state drive (SSD) and slide into the slot on the system board.
Install the screw that secures the SSD to the system.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Install the screws that secure the base cover.
