Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Loosen the captive screws on the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the bottom left and continue to work on the sides
Lift the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery from the system.
System Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Lift to remove the fan from the system.
Memory module
Identify the memory modules highlighted in blue.
Lift the Mylar to access the memory module
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.
SSD
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD bracket to the system.
Slide and lift the SSD bracket off the system
Turn and place the solid state drive assembly on a dry and flat surface
Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the SSD bracket
Remove the solid state drive (SSD) from the SSD bracket
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue
Remove the screw that secures the bracket to the wireless module (WLAN).
Lift the bracket off the wireless module.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the wireless module (WLAN).
Slide and remove the wireless module out of the slot on the system board.
Power adapter port
Identify the power adapter port (DC-in) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the right display hinge to the system board.
Lift to open the right display hinge.
Disconnect the power adapter port cable from the system board.
Peel the tape that secures the power adapter port cable to the system board.
Unroute the cable and lift the power adapter port from the system.
System board assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape, lift the latch and disconnect the display cable.
Remove the screws that secure the USB-C port bracket.
Lift the USB-C port bracket from the system board
Remove the screws that secures the system board.
Lift at an angle to remove the system board assembly with the I/O board cable.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the left hinge.
Lift to open the left display hinge.
Peel the tape, lift the latch and disconnect the I/O board and optional power button fingerprint cable.
Peel the coin cell battery from the palm rest. Do not disconnect.
Remove the screw that secures the I/O board.
Lift the I/O board and coin cell from the palmrest.
Power Button
Identify the power button with optional fingerprint reader highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the power button to the system.
Lift the power button, with the optional fingerprint cable, from the system.
Install
Power Button
Identify the power button with optional fingerprint reader location highlighted in blue.
Install the power button into the slot on the system.
Install the screw that secures the power button to the system.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Install the I/O board into the system using the alignment posts.
Install the screw that secures the I/O board.
Adhere the coin cell battery to the system.
Connect the I/O board and optional fingerprint cables. Close the latch to secure.
Close the left hinge and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the left hinge.
System board assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board asssembly into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secures the system board assembly.
Install the USB-C port bracket and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the USB-C port bracket.
Connect the display cable and close the latch. Adhere the tape to secure.
Power adapter port
Identify the power adapter port (DC-in) location highlighted in blue.
Place the power adapter port into the slot on the system. Route the cable.
Connect the power adapter port cable to the system board.
Adhere the tape that secures the power adapter port cable to the system board
Close the right display hinge and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the right display hinge to the system board.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module location (WLAN) highlighted in blue
Align the notch on the wireless module with the tab on the slot and insert into the slot.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the cable with white sticker to the main (white triangle).
Align the screw hole on the bracket with the screw hole on the wireless module
Install the screw that secures the bracket and wireless module to the system.
SSD
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the SSD with the screw on the SSD bracket
Install the screw that secures the SSD to the SSD bracket
Align the notches on the solid state drive (SSD) and slide into the slot on the system board.
Install the screw that secures the SSD bracket to the system.
Memory module
Identify the memory modules location highlighted in blue.
Lift the Mylar to access the memory module
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
System Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan in the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Insert the battery into the slot on the system.
Install the screws to secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Install the screws that secure the base cover.
