Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover.
Loosen the captive screws on the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Heat sink
Identify the heat sink highlighted in blue. Ensure heat sink is cool before removing.
Loosen the screws that secure the heat sink. Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
Lift and remove the heat sink off the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the surface of the system board and heatsink.
Install
Heat sink
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heat sink on the system board and align the screw holes.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not overtighten.
Install the screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Install the base cover and press the edges and sides until it snaps into place.
Tighten the screws captive that secure the base cover.
Install the screws that secure the base cover.
