Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Loosen the captive screws on the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape and disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Fan
Identify the fan highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Lift to remove the fan from the system.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the left display hinge.
Lift to open the left display hinge.
Peel the tape, open the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable.
Open the latch and disconnect the optional power button fingerprint cable.
Peel the coin cell from the palm rest. Do not disconnect.
Peel the tape that covers the screw on the I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board.
Lift the I/O board from the palmrest.
Heat sink
Power Button (Fingerprint cable)
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secures the power button to the system.
Peel the fingerprint reader cable from the palmrest.
Lift the power button along with its cable, from the system.
Install
Power Button (Fingerprint cable)
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Install the power button into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secures the power button to the system.
Adhere the fingerprint reader cable to the palmrest.
Heat sink
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Install the I/O board into the slot on the palm rest using the alignment posts.
Install the screws to secure the I/O board.
Adhere the coin cell to the palm rest.
Connect the optional power button fingerprint cable. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the I/O board cable to the I/O board. Close the latch and adhere the tape.
Close the left hinge and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the left hinge.
Fan
Identify the fan location highlighted in blue.
Install the fan in the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the fan to the system.
Connect the fan cable to the system board.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board and adhere the tape.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Install the base cover and press the edges and sides until it snaps into place.
Tighten the screws captive that secure the base cover.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
