Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #5, remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Place fingers into the recess at the top edge and move your hands to both sides to pry the base cover.
Lift the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Unhook and lift the battery connector bracket off the system board.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
To remove, use the pull tab to lift the battery slightly and release it from the two hooks on the bottom edge.
SSD
Fans
Identify the fans highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch, use the pull tab to disconnect the left and right fan cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secures the left and right fans to the system.
Lift the left and right fans off the system board.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heatsink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift and remove the heatsink off the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the thermal paste from the system board and heatsink (as shown in the video).
System Board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Open the display assembly to a 90 degree angle and place the computer on the edge of a flat surface.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WLAN bracket. Ensure the washer holding the screw stays in place.
Lift the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the wireless module cables from the wireless module.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Lift the display assembly cable bracket off the system board.
Disconnect the camera and display cables from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the capacitive touch panel and haptic module cables.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard daughterboard and power button cables.
Peel the tape and disconnect the left and right speakers cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the system board away from the palm rest.
Install
System Board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Holding the short edges and install the system board on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Connect the left and right speakers cables and adhere the tape to the system board.
Connect the keyboard daughterboard and power button cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the capacitive touch panel and haptic module cables to the system board. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the camera and display cables to the system board.
Install the display assembly cable bracket on the system board.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the cable with white sticker to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the wireless module (WLAN) bracket.
Close the display assembly and place it on the flat surface.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown. Replace thermal pads if needed.
Align and insert the heat sink into its slot on the system board.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the heat sink to the system board.Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Fans
Identify the fans location highlighted in blue.
Slide left and right fans into the slot on the system and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secures the left and right fans to the system.
Connect the left and right fan cables to the system board.
SSD
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Align the battery at an angle so that the tabs fit into the hooks. Lower the battery and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector to the system board.
Slide the hook under the system board and install the bracket to the system board.
Tighten the screw that secures the battery connector bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Using a Torx #5, install the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
