This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Touchpad and a Dell 15 DC15250. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover, Battery Cable, Battery and reinstalling them.
Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws on the base cover.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the touchpad bracket off the touchpad.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the touchpad.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad to the system.
Slide and lift the touchpad to remove.
Install
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad panel location highlighted in blue.
Install the touchpad into the slot on the palm rest assembly and align the screw holes.
Install the screws to secure the touchpad to the system.
Connect the touchpad cable and close the latch to secure.
Install the touchpad bracket into the slot on the touchpad.
Install the screws to secure the touchpad bracket.
Battery
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Install the base cover and press the edges and sides until it snaps into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover.
