How to replace the USB Type-C connector module on a DellPro13Plus PB13250 V Series

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the USB Type-C connector module and a DellPro13Plus PB13250 VSeries. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover, Battery Cable, Battery, WWAN Card 5G, Solid State Drive, Display Cable, System Board Assembly and reinstalling them.

Removal

1. Base Cover
   • Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
   • Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
   • Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover from the recesses that are located in the U-shaped indents at the top edge of the base cover near the hinges.
   • Lift the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
   • Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
   • Align the base cover with the screw holes, place the base cover on the palm rest assembly, and snap into place.
   • Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
2. Battery Cable
   • Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
   • Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
   • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
3. Battery
   • Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
   • Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
   • Lift the battery off the palm rest assembly.
   • Flip the battery.
   • Unroute the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery.
   • Disconnect and remove the battery cable from the connector on the battery.
   • Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
   • Place and connect the battery cable to its connector on the battery.
   • Route the battery cable through the routing guides on the battery.
   • Flip the battery.
   • Align it with the screw holes and place the battery into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
   • Tighten the captive screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
4. WWAN Card 5G
   • Identify the 5G WWAN card highlighted in blue.
   • Remove the screws that secure the 5G WWAN card bracket to the system.
   • Remove the 5G WWAN card bracket from the 5G WWAN card.
   • Lift the shield off the 5G WWAN card.
   • Loosen the captive screw that secures the WWAN bracket to the system.
   • Lift the WWAN card bracket from the WWAN card.
   • Disconnect the antenna cables from the 5G WWAN card.
   • Slide and lift the 5G WWAN card off the I/O board.
   • Identify the 5G WWAN card location highlighted in blue.
   • Slide and install the 5G WWAN card into the slot on the I/O board.
   • Connect the black cable to the ANT3 D/G.
   • Connect the blue cable to the ANT2 M2.
   • Connect the orange cable to the ANT1 M1.
   • Connect the white cable to the ANT0 M.
   • Align and place the WWAN card bracket on the WWAN card.
   • Tighten the captive screw that secures the WWAN bracket to the system.
   • Place the shield over the 5G WWAN card and secure it in place.
   • Place the 5G WWAN card bracket on the 5G WWAN card.
   • Install the screws that secure the 5G WWAN card bracket to the system.
5. Solid State Drive
6. Display Cable
   • Identify the display cable highlighted in blue.
   • Remove the screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
   • Lift the display cable bracket off the system board.
   • Peel the tapes that secure the display and sensor board cables to the system.
   • Lift the black flap and disconnect the sensor board cable from the system board.
   • Lift the black flap and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
   • Unroute the display and sensor board cables from the routing guides on the system.
   • Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
   • Route the display and sensor board cables through the routing guides on the system.
   • Connect the display cable on the system board and place the black flap to cover the display cable.
   • Connect the sensor board cable on the system board and place the black flap to cover the sensor board cable.
   • Adhere the tapes to secure the display and sensor board cables to the system.
   • Install the display cable bracket on the system board.
   • Install the screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
7. System Board Assembly
   • Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
   • Remove the screw that secure the WLAN bracket to the system board.
   • Lift the WLAN bracket off the system board.
   • Disconnect the WLAN cables from the WLAN card.
   • Lift the latch and disconnect USH daughter board flexible flat cable from the system board.
   • Partly peel the mylar to access the screws on the middle bracket (AB10) that connects the I/O board and system board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the screws that secures the system board and I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Slide and lift the system board assembly off the palm rest assembly.
   • Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
   • Align and place the system board assembly on the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Install the screws that secures the system board and I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Adhere the mylar to the screws on the middle bracket (AB10) that connects the I/O board and system board to the palm rest assembly.
   • Connect USH daughter board flexible flat cable on the system board. Close the latch to secure.
8. Connect white cable to "MAIN"
9. Connect black cable to "AUX"
   • Install the WLAN bracket on the system board.
   • Install the screw that secure the WLAN bracket to the system board.
10. USB Type-C connector module
    • Rotate the system board assembly 180 degree.
    • Identify the USB type-C connector module highlighted in blue.
    • Remove the screws that secure the USB type-C connector module to the system board.
    • Remove the USB type-C connector module from the system board.
    • Identify the USB type-C connector module location highlighted in blue.
    • Align and place the USB type-C connector module to the slot on the system board.
    • Install the screws that secure the USB type-C connector module to the system board.
    • Flip the system board assembly 180 degree.

5. WWAN Card 5G
   • Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
   • Slide and install the SSD into the slot on the system board. Install the SSD mounting bracket if needed.
   • Install the screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
   • Place the bracket into the SSD slot on the system board.
   • Install the screws that secure the SSD bracket to the system board.
6. Battery
   • Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
   • Slide and install the SSD into the slot on the system board. Install the SSD mounting bracket if needed.
   • Install the screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
   • Place the bracket into the SSD slot on the system board.
   • Install the screws that secure the SSD bracket to the system board.
7. Battery Cable
   • Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
   • Connect the battery cable on the system board.
8. Base Cover
   • Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
   • Connect the battery cable on the system board.
