How to replace the System Battery on a PowerEdge R6715

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the System Battery and a PE R6715. The procedure will also include removing the System Cover and reinstalling them.

Removal

System Cover

1. Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
2. Using a Philips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
3. Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
4. Lift the cover from the system.

System Battery

1. Identify the system battery highlighted in blue.
2. Use a plastic scribe, press and hold the battery socket retention latch to pop out the battery.
3. Lift the battery out of the socket.

Install

System Battery

1. Identify the system battery location highlighted in blue.
2. Install the battery with the "+" facing up, at an angle, and slide it under the battery socket latch.
3. Press the battery into the connector until it snaps into place.

System Cover

1. Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system, and slide the system cover.
3. Close the system cover release latch.
4. Using a Philips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position.
