This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Heat sink and a PE R6715. The procedure will also include removing the System Cover and reinstalling them.
Removal
System Cover
Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
Using a Philips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
Lift the cover from the system.
Heat sink
Identify the heat sink module highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx T20 screwdriver, loosen the screws that secure the heat sink in reverse order.
Lift the heatsink from the system.
Remove the thermal grease on the processor and heat sink by using a thin lint free cloth. (as shown in the video)
Install
Heat sink
Identify the heat sink module location highlighted in blue.
Apply the grease in a thin spiral on top of the processor.
Align the heat sink with the guide pins and then place the heat sink module on the processor socket.
Using a Torx T20 screwdriver, tighten the screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten them in order. Do not overtighten.
System Cover
Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system, and slide the system cover.
Close the system cover release latch.
Using a Philips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position.
