How to replace the Drive - 2.5 inch on a PowerEdge R6715

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Drive - 2.5 inch and a PE R6715. The procedure will also include removing the Front Bezel, Drive Carrier - 2.5 inch and reinstalling them.

Removal

Front Bezel

1. Identify the front bezel highlighted in blue.
2. Unlock the front bezel with the key.
3. Press the release button and disengage the left end of the bezel.
4. Unhook the right end and remove the front bezel.

Drive Carrier - 2.5 inch

1. Identify the drive carrier highlighted in blue.
2. Press the release button to open the drive carrier release handle.
3. Holding the drive carrier release handle, slide the drive carrier out of the drive slot.

Drive - 2.5 inch

1. Identify the drive highlighted in blue.
2. Remove the screws from the slide rails on the drive carrier.
3. Lift the drive out of the drive carrier.

Install

Drive - 2.5 inch

1. Identify the drive location highlighted in blue.
2. Insert the drive into the drive carrier with the drive connector facing the rear of the carrier.
3. Install the screws that secure the drive to the drive carrier.

Drive Carrier - 2.5 inch

1. Identify the drive carrier location highlighted in blue.
2. Press the release button on the front of the drive carrier to open the release handle.
3. Slide the drive carrier into the drive slot.
4. Close the drive carrier release handle to lock the drive in place.

Front Bezel

1. Identify the front bezel location highlighted in blue.
2. Align and insert the tabs on the bezel into the slots on the system.
3. Press the bezel until the release button clicks into place.
4. Lock the front bezel with the key.
