How to replace the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module on a PowerEdge R6715

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module and a PE R6715. The procedure will also include removing the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Card Carrier, System Cover, Riser R2k, Riser R4a and reinstalling them.

Removal

BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Card Carrier

1. Identify the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier highlighted in blue.
2. Pull and lift the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier retention latch to open.
3. Slide the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier out.

System Cover

1. Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
2. Using a Philips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
3. Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
4. Lift the cover from the system.

Riser R2k

1. Identify the riser highlighted in blue.
2. Disconnect the cables from the HPM board.
3. Holding the touch points, lift the expansion card riser to disengage it from the connector and guide pin.

Riser R4a

1. Identify the riser highlighted in blue.
2. Pull the riser latch to the unlocked position.
3. Lift the expansion card riser to disengage it from the connector and guide pin on the HPM board.

BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module

1. Identify the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS module highlighted in blue.
2. Open the blue latch to disengage the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module.
3. Push the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module towards the rear of the system and slide it out of the slot.

Install

BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module

1. Identify the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS module location highlighted in blue.
2. Open the blue latch to install the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module.
3. Slide the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module into the slot, then push it until it connects with the system board.
4. Close the blue latch to lock the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Module to the system.

Riser R4a

1. Identify the riser location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the riser with the connector and guide pin, lower it, and press down until it is fully seated.
3. Slide the riser latch into the locked position.

Riser R2k

1. Identify the riser location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the riser with the connector and guide pin, install it, and press down until it is fully seated.
3. Connect the cables to the HPM board.

System Cover

1. Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system, and slide the system cover.
3. Close the system cover release latch.
4. Using a Philips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position.

BOSS-N1 DC-MHS Card Carrier

1. Identify the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier location highlighted in blue.
2. Slide the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier into the BOSS-N1 module slot.
3. Close the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier release latch to lock the carrier in place.
