This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Cooling Fan and a PowerEdge XE9680L. The procedure will also include removing the Front Top Cover, Rear Top cover and reinstalling them.
Removal
Front Top Cover
Identify the front top cover highlighted in blue.
Using a flathead or Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise.
Lift the latch until the front top cover slides back.
Hold the cover on both sides and lift it away from the system.
Rear Top cover
Identify the rear top cover highlighted in blue.
Lift the rear top cover from the system in the direction of the marked arrows.
Cooling Fan
Select the cooling fan you want to replace.
Hold the orange release tab and lift the cooling fan out of the cooling fan cage.
Install
Cooling Fan
Confirm the cooling fan that you want to replace.
Align and place the cooling fan into the cooling fan assembly until it clicks into place.
Rear Top cover
Identify the rear top cover location highlighted in blue.
Align with the tabs, then slide the rear top cover forward until it fits into place.
Front Top Cover
Identify the front top cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the front top cover with the guide slots on the system.
Push the front top cover latch down.
Using a 1/4-inch flathead or a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise.
