Flexible and ExpandableThe Dell PowerEdge 2900 server is built with flexibility in mind. You can choose from tower or 5U rack chassis options with hot-plug SAS or SATA hard drives and several optical devices and tape products, for up to 6.0TB* of internal storage. The system also features six I/O slots. Because Dell Remote Access Card (DRAC) and PERC 5/i integrated controller utilize dedicated daughtercard slots, all six I/O slots are available for expandability. You have the option of adding up to four dual-embedded Gigabit Network Interface Cards (NICs) and two dual-channel storage interface devices for maximum growth potential.

1333MHz FSB facilitates great speed. 64-bit memory addressability provides scalability for large memory footprint applications.
A TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) helps deliver greater network throughput and efficiency by offloading the TCP/IP processing to a dedicated processor, freeing up the main system processor in web-based applications or when using iSCSI.
The PowerEdge 9th Generation servers offer up to 48GB of fully-buffered DIMM memory, as much as three times the memory capacity of the previous generation. This allows for simultaneous reads/writes of memory and can help improve performance in virtualized workloads.
Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS) hard drives deliver the next generation of SCSI performance and reliability for critical business applications, while SATA options provide excellent value for systems that rely on external storage and fibre-channel storage.
