Network Firmware 7.8.16 error
On a lot of my Windows 2003 Server machines the above update won't run through OME or even when downloading directly from Dell. I get an error stating "this is not a valid win32 application" and also it tells me that inventory collection has failed.
Is there an issue with this update package and win2k3?

Hey there,
Thanks for letting us know. Looks like not even outside OME eh?
Can you open a ticket at 800-945-3355 so the support guys can take a look? I'll give them a heads up.
Thanks,
Rob

The problem is that these servers are all out of warranty so I can't call them into support.

Is there an update to this issue?
I have the exact same problem with my farm of dell R710 servers running Server 2003-32bit.
Additionally the older versions are no longer online either, so these are stuck with firmware from 2010.
Way to go Dell. Leave your customers stuck with no solution except to throw the servers out.

Now I have a poweredge 2900 and a poweredge 2950 that OME is telling me needs firmware version 7.8.53, yet when I go to Dell's site the latest is 7.8.16, so which is it?

I looked up dell.com and I can see that the latest firmware available for your BCom card is 7.8.53. Hope you see the same at these links:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/poweredge-2950/drivers

Do let me know your experience.

That's for the 2900 and I looked yesterday and it certainly wasn't there.
What about the 2900? That link doesn't say it is compatible with the 2900 series and OME is telling me it has that version as an update.

Can you tell us what the OS is on your 2900?
The latest FW version for Broadcom NetXtreme is 7.6.15, based on this link:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=P32M4&fileId=3230162486&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-2900&languageCode=EN&categoryId=NI
I'd like to find out why your OME lists a newer version instead. I hope you have the latest `catalog from ftp.dell.com. Can you send us the ID of your catalog? Also send us the DUP name from System Update tab.

Well that server can't even have support on it anymore it is old! So calling it in won't work since you can't to my knowledge just call in about OME, I've always had to use a in warranty service tag to get OME support.

This might be a bug in the catalog. You could open a support ticket.
Just for my curiosity - what is the network card listed for that 2900? Any details help - like PCI ID.
