I am looking to get a new graphics card for my Dimension 8300 - I currently have got an nVidia GeForce FX5200 128MB

Can I check that I need a card with an AGP adapter

I was looking at something like an ATI Radeon X700 Pro 256MB with AGP 8x

Will I have any problems with my PSU?

My system has got.

P4 3GHz

1.5GB Ram

if you're looking to get the x700, i would go for the 6600gt as it is similar price and is slightly faster in almost if not everything and yes your psu should run both

The Dimension 8300 uses an AGP graphics card for video.  The
ATI Radeon X700 Pro should work fine without harm to your power
supply.

The x700 is is for a PCI-EXPRESS slot not an AGP slot.  It is a completely different slot not available on the Dimension 8300 (I have this model).  You cannot use a PCI-Express card in an AGP slot because:

1. It will not fit correctly.

2. Your tower does not have the slot.

3. If you try to put the card in you will either break the card or blow your power supply.

Actually, sorry I didn't realize you wanted the AGP 8X version.  The "x" in x700 means express and that card was made at first for PCI express.  I did not realize there was an AGP version, and the AGP should work with your computer.

what are you talking about they do make a agp version of the x700 and x700 pro

just loike the 6600gt is pcie native they released it with a bridge chip for agp
