I have a xps 17 l702x.

I installed 2720_Audio_Driver_KF13G_WN32_6.0.1.7544_A00.EXE from DELL.

Maxx Audio 3 equalizer did not work.

I extracted 2720_Audio_Driver_KF13G_WN32_6.0.1.7544_A00.EXE with 7 zip.

There you will find “Maxx Audio Installer (x64).msi”.

I extracted Maxx Audio Installer (x64).msi again with 7 zip.

From there I can start maxxaudiocontrol64.exe and I can adjust the settings.

Not a perfect solution but for me it is working.

Also over a reboot.

I also own an XPS 17 L702X (stil going strong, love this machine !!)

Also had issues with MaxxAudio 3 in Windows 10 x64 Pro, where the sound was awfull, and where the Equaliser was missing.

Using the Windows 10 x64 driver for the Inspiron 5348 (download through DELL Support), named 5348_Audio_Driver_WGCJ5_WN32_6.0.1.7544_A00.EXE, I at least got the 'DELL AUDIO' screen back that can be started using the WAVES MAXXAUDIO hotkey sitting right at the top of the keyboard.

However, in my case, in the second tab, the Equaliser CANNOT be controlled.

I then used bauer.ww's trick to extract the MAXXAUDIO specific files from the Maxx Audio Installer (x64).msi using 7Zip.

I then did something more, because I wanted to directly invoke the maxxaudiocontrol64.exe file when hitting the MAXXAUDIO hotkey (instead of the 'DELL AUDIO' screen).

The entire procedure was as follows:

1.

Just for sure that the new drivers are used, I removed the existing devices (including) drivers through device management for the following:

Audio Input and Output branch:

Loudspeakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)

Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio)

Control for Audio,Video and Games branch:

Realtek High Definition Audio

2.

Installed the 5348_Audio_Driver_WGCJ5_WN32_6.0.1.7544_A00.EXE package (for the Inspiron 5348, Windows 10 x64 compatible !)

3.

Reboot the system

4.

Extract the contents of the 5348_Audio_Driver_WGCJ5_WN32_6.0.1.7544_A00.EXE and Maxx Audio Installer (x64).msi respecively using 7Zip to a temporary folder for example named C:\Temp\WavesMaxxaudio

5.

In Task Manager, kill the following processes:

RTKNGUI64.exe

RAVBg64.exe

RAVCpl64.exe

6.

Copy the contents of the C:\Temp\WavesMaxxaudio folder to the C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA folder (overwrite if prompted)

7.

Renamed RtkNGUI64.exe into RtkNGUI64_DELL_AUDIO.exe (This is the 'DELL AUDIO' config screen)

8.

Create a shortcut to RtkNGUI64_DELL_AUDIO.exe on the desktop (so that one can invoke the 'DELL AUDIO' config screen)

9.

Renamed maxxaudiocontrol64.exe into RtkNGUI64.exe (This is the MAXXAUDIO config screen containing the equalizer !)

Result:

- When using the MAXXAUDIO hotkey on the XPS17's keyboard, the MaxxAudio Equaliser / Config Screen is invoked

- A shortcut on the desktop exists that will invoke 'DELL AUDIO'.

I have similar issues I think. I installed Windows 10 on my Dell XPS 15 (9530) and now at around 60 there is a fair amount of crackling. I used to always be able to turn it to 100 and have the audio be crystal clear. I'm guessing Waves Maxxaudio is gone as I did a clean install.

I also downloaded and updated the only audio driver.

I would like to know how to fix this as well.

I have the same problem with a XPS One 2710 after upgrading from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro.

Hopefully Dell and Maxx Audio will release new drivers.

ditto for me. I have XPS 18 and Maxx is not all there.

Try different audio drivers.

1. the one that's from Dell

2. R2.79 from realtek website

3. R2.74 even though it's for Win 8

Tried that and not having luck with it.

Fix for DELL XPS 15Z missing maxxaudio 3 after windows 10 update.

1. Reinstall Realtek Audio Driver for Windows 8 provided by DELL in driver download.

2. After the installation, go to C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA and double click RtkNGUI64.exe

3. In MaxxAudio "ADVANCED" tab click "SETTING" unCheck and reCheck "Display icon in notification area" to make it reappear.

Hope it works for you. Goodluck.

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS One 2710 which Dell has not verified as Windows 10 compatible.

Just installed Win 10 as an upgrade from Win 8.1 today.  Audio did not work.

As the XPS One 2720 has been verified, I downloaded and installed the Realtek driver from the Dell website for that machine onto mine, and it works perfectly!.

Driver version is 6.01.7544 if anyone is interested.

I have a xps 17 l702x.

Maxx Audio 3 equalizer did not work.

I extracted 2720_Audio_Driver_KF13G_WN32_6.0.1.7544_A00.EXE with 7 zip.

I extracted Maxx Audio Installer (x64).msi again with 7 zip.
