XPS 13 (2015 Dev Ed) glitchy trackpad issue

Just received the new XPS 13 Dev Ed today. The trackpad is very glitchy and I'm getting a lot of this kind of thing in /var/log/syslog. What gives? Any known solution?

Can you contact ProSupport? We need to be able to check when exactly yours was built.

That is, if you ordered the DE, ProSupport is what should be bundled with your system.

Status was In Production until Monday...

Is Pro Support something different than regular support?

ProSupport is our business class support.

We would need ProSupport to get your service tag so we can look into why you're having this issue. All 2015 XPS 13 DE's should be free of this issue.

Hopefully they can make sense of the issue.  In the interim, you can add "psmouse.resetafter=0" to your kernel command line and it will work around the issue.

Ok, that sounds good. I definitely ordered the 2015 DE but see no trace of Pro Support contact information in email or print. Should I be calling 1-800-456-3355?

Scratch that - after adding the product to my Dell account it does show up as ProSupoprt. I'll go through that channel. Thanks!

Resolution: added psmouse.resetafter=0 boot option.

Also separately, the default touchpad tap response time is pretty slugglish and can be changed to be more responsive with "synclient SingleTapTimeout=1"

Ditto here. Received the Developer Edition today and same touchpad issues as described, as well as same sort of stuff in /var/log/syslog. Every once in a while I'll also get the repeated key issue happening.

I'll reach out to ProSupport early next week.

FYI: Bios version is A03 and the wifi chipset is Broadcom BCM4352. I thought the developer edition is supposed to come with an Intel WiFi card.

Out of the box, my day-old XPS 13 Dev Ed (9343) was unusable due to trackpad stuttering and random jumps.

As noted above, adding "psmouse.resetafter=0" to /etc/default/grub, then doing a "sudo update-grub" fixed the issue.

The latest kernel, 4.0xxx, also fixes the mouse, but breaks the broadcom WIFI.

Since this laptop didn't offer any encryption when it stepped me through the set up process, I'll have to rebuild this from scratch anyway, so will likely play about Kernel 4.0 further - using a USB-ethernet to download the bw43-firmware package. Certainly, using Kernel 4.0 briefly, everything else seemed to work - brightness, audio, media keys, etc, so I'm hopeful that if I can get the WIFI going, that will be the simplest method for getting this laptop both usable and secure.

Scaine: Please reach out to ProSupport so we can collect your service tag and try to root cause the issue. As Mario mentioned, this shouldn't be happening, so we need to figure out why it is.

Excarnate: Just to check whether you see the glitchy touchpad behavior. If you do, we want to collect the service tag.

Jared, my XPS 13 (2015) DevEd is supposed to arrive today. Is there anything you would want me to do before/during/after starting it?

Is there a way to open a ticket or similar method with ProSupport avoiding making a phone call? I looked around a bit and couldn't find it. I have been able to get the touchpad to nearly-good with kernel update and config tweak noted in this thread: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/os-applications/f/4613/p/19629078/20757657#20757657 but I would still like to follow up with ProSupport so you guys can pin down any issue on your end, and be aware of any follow-up fixes for the issue. Thanks!

I just got mine today and have the touchpad issue.  I just opened a ticket through chat.  The rep was nice, but apparently the Ubuntu reps don't work late.  Service Request: 910504144
