Can't get my wireless IP security camera to work

Hello,

I have a Sricam wireless indoor IP camera that I have been trying to get up and running, but have not been able to do so. The instructions that come with the camera are fairly simple: attach the camera to your router via an ethernet cable to set up your wifi connection. Then the software that comes with the camera called Device Viewer should be able to detect the camera and you are all set. Or use a cell phone app called Sricam to scan the camera’s QR code. Neither method works.

I am told that the camera comes with a fixed IP address. The cell phone fails to scan the QR code, and Device Viewer doesn’t detect the camera. I run Windows 7 on my laptop. I attach my cell phone to my laptop via a USB cable for my Internet connection. I have been told that the camera and my laptop have to be in the same subnet for the camera to be recognized. And that I would need to change my laptop IP address to the address on the camera, but I have no idea what the camera IP address is. Anyone who can help me out here, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

cinque8,

In researching this for you, I don't see many positive comments about this particular camera.  The closest solution I found would be to use an AC router, but not an older b/g/n router. That was figured out when changing the password encryption of the wireless to the newer AES then everything works (the N-router was configured automatically as wpa2 + wpa with TKIP enabled, as this is a feature not every router supports it might just also not be on the feature list of the cams)

The IP address for your IP camera can be found on the product manual or on the product label pasted at the bottom. Although the moment you connect the camera to the computer, the software detects all the details, the problem you are facing seems to be arising out of connectivity issues. Ensure that you re using a new ethernet cable and it is connected securely at the ports. If you are trying to scan the QR code, ensure that the camera lens is clean. You can also try moving the phone camera closer and farther for the focus to adjust itself.
