Why can my Dell Laptop connect to wifi but not get internet through it?

I have a dell vostro 3400, and I can connect to any wifi network, and while other computers can get internet through them, I can only get limited access. Also, I am running connectify(internet sharing program), a virtual wifi router and I can connect devices to it, but they cannot get internet through it (even when my laptop gets it through Ethernet). Is this a hardware problem? Software, OS? I've had the comp for over a year and it's always worked perfectly... Thanks!

xael821,

Is there a reason that you don't have DHCP enabled.

Start, control panel, network and sharing center. Click on your network, properties. Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties. Have your settings match mine.

xael821,

You said...

What operating system are you using? 32-bit or 64-bit?

Try running an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

xael821,

Hit the Windows key and the R keys at the same time. Type

cmd

type

ipconfig /all          (space between the g and /)

Right click on the top ot the log, then left click copy, then paste it back here.

xael821,

On all systems, when you hit the Windows key and the R keys at the same time, you'll see...

For XP, you have the type

command

For Vista/Windows 7, you have to type

cmd

Hit enter. Type

ipconfig /all
