Optiplex 7770 - HDMI Input
Hi,
Looking for hopefully an easy solution. We purchased 10 x Optiplex 7770's for the business just before xmas. We have various other models around the business working as they should. It will be used as a desktop during most times but we also need the requirement to use it as an external monitor.
The manual, blurb online all states that it has a HDMI Input. Got the machiens and it certainly does, now we can't actually get it to act as an external montior? We have tried with varioues cables, windows laptops. macs, docks. You name it we've tried it. The laptops pick up that it has something connected and labels it correct as an "Optiplex 7770" however doesn't actually display anything. Tried extended, tried mirrored etc on 10+ different machines.
Run Dell Command Update and updated everything, tried our build and a vanilla build and still nothing? We are using the Input Selection/LCD Test button on the bottom panel. The button does nothing unless you hold it in for a few seconds then the screen goes black with a backlight. We have tried it with the AIO booted and logged in, not booted etc etc but nothing seems to ever output?
Are we missing a trick? Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks

FYI for anyone searhcing for this. I downloaded the "Dell On Screen Display" application and that fixed this. Our build obviousl removed this during our Task Sequence.

external monitor to what, you left off to WHAT.
A to B. what is B?
all Dell AIO< if supported on yours have HDMI (IN) port so the answer is use only that.
and enable the external monitor mode. using Buttons. on AIO
the OSD button bottom right is the path to setting on your AIO.
page 10 in your manual shows the photo below for HDMI -IN (far side of pair)
the unstated full model of your AIO if shows opted UHD dGPU version, has NO HDMI-IN port at all..
if not pair if HDMI ports see there, that is the wrong bought , model. FHD UMA version , this.
if not turned off in F2 BIOS push the osd button bottom left and see if the is isdisplayed
Right chassis view1.Hard drive activity lightBottom chassis view1.Service Tag label2.Display Built-in Self Test button/Video input selection
my wild guess is you did not buy the AIO with the hdmi-in opition

Dell On Screen Display aplication (Application_R87Y4_WN32_1.4.1_A00) is not compatible with Windows 11. Is there any solution for OptiPlex 7780 running Windows 11 to enable HDMI input?
