How to remove the System Board CMOS Battery alert ?

Hello,

On a couple of Dell Poweredge C6420, we got the CMOS Battery alert and replace the coin battery CR2032 on each sled. The System Board CMOS Battery is still flagged as critical in the iDRAC9. How can we reset the alert about the battery ?

Thank you

Can you clear SEL logs and check the behavior?

Thank you for the infromation.

I clear the SEL log but unfortunatly the  Health Information on the Dashboard of the iDRAC still show 'System Critical Issues' with the Batteries listed.

Hi, please try the following power drain steps:

  1. Power off the server.
  2. Disconnect all cables from the server.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. Reconnect the cables to the server.
  6. Power on the server.

If the issue persists, you can also try resetting the iDRAC9 https://dell.to/40lfMcb

  1. Log in to the iDRAC9 web interface and navigate to the "System" section.

  2. Scroll down to the "System Board" section and click on the "Battery" tab.

  3. Look for an option to "Clear CMOS Battery Status" or "Reset CMOS Battery Alert" and click on it.

  4. If there is no such option, you may need to restart the server to clear the CMOS battery alert.

If the CMOS battery alert persists even after following these steps, it is possible that the CMOS battery itself may be failing and needs to be replaced. Additionally, other hardware issues may also be contributing to the error. In that case, you may want to consult with Dell technical support for further assistance.
