R650 sending false NIC100 and NIC101 events for Intel X710 2-Port

Hi,

we have the issue described in KB 000180118 - False NIC100 and NIC101 events may be logged in Lifecycle Controller logs with Intel X710 family of adapters

on our R650 with VMware ESX installed. See versions and firmware below. The Servers have current firmware and are up-2-date. They have this issue since we installed them 2 weeks ago. The KB above says, it is fixed in current NIC firmware but it does not look like.

OS and switch are not seeing link up/down events.

The NIC that is always reported by iDRAC is a standby adapter on vSwitch0. But there is a virtual network - here vMotion on that vSwitch where the NIC is the primary adapter. So it is in fact an active adapter, not standby.

Madeineurope,

I will have to look into this for you, and may need to submit it. If so then we will need you to run and send a  TSR+Debug and a vmsupport bundle from that host. Also, if you could, would you private message me the svc tag for the system in question?

Lastly, when you have the logs, would you upload them to upload. dell. com with the svc tag you private message to me, this is how I can locate the logs.

Let me know.

Hi,

were you able to find something in the logs I sent you?

We're still getting hammered with DRAC mails about NIC up/down.

Regards

Madeineurope,

I did not see anything additional, but have submitted the issue for analysis, as well as confirming the latest fw had the fix, as detailed in the KB you presented.

had the same issue with an other server. The NIC down/up notifications started after a "real" network interruption and continued to spam uns all day long. After a reboot of that host, the notifications stopped.
