SUU update fails
Hello,
I need to update the R940 servers. I have downloaded the latest SUU version and are using lifecycle controller to update the firmwares from local CD mounted ISO file. but after inquiry the catalog.xml when applying for update, I will face UPDATE failed.
surprised everything is ok but I don't know the reason for failure.
Any suggestion ?

Mohammad-t5tDw,
Would you confirm a couple things for me?
Did you use Repository Mgr to create the ISO from SUU?
Are you seeing any specific errors being displayed?
What specific SUU did you download, would you provide the link?
What OS is installed on the server?
Have you attempted to run SUU from the OS?
Let me know what you see.

I didnt use repository manager to build the SUU. I have downloaded SUU linux form below link.
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/poweredge-r940/drivers
OLE 7.9 installed on servers.
I have tried to install it from linux OS but need a lib GUI to be installed on OS. But I prefer to use LC for update.
everything seems goes well. I mean in LC I use firmware update , local path and choose the catalog.xml. all new firmware will be detected and the status is ready to apply. but when I apply the LC is going to download the firmwares from repository to OS but promt an erorr that UPDATE firmware failed without any more message.
I have check that linux service module not installed on OS. is it the cause of problem ?

I tried to install Service Module Installer v4.2.0.0 but facing an error that Update prereq not available. regret nothing reported as required prereq !!!!!!!!
I downloded HBA .bin file for linux but with iDRAC cant be installed and iDRAC says the format is unkown. !!!!!!!
what is going with DELL POWEREDGE FIRMWARE UPDATE !!!! why complicated ??

I am not certain as to the reasoning, it maybe the version of linux you are using. Would you do me a favor and verify what version you are currently on with BIOS, iDrac LCC?

Sorry I forgot to ask what server this is on. To update the idrac you can run the application update file on a separate system to extract the files, once done then locate a file with a name resembling firmimg.d# (# being idrac generation). Once located then save that to USB and then access the idrac web interface, select Update from the tree to the left, then load the firmimg and execute. That will update the idrac directly.

BIOS 2.10.0
iDRAC & LC 4.40.10.00
update firmware via iDRAC web console needs linux .BIN version or windows .EXE version ? .BIN files not recognized by iDRAC web console

I found out updating using iDRAC web only use .EXE files not .BIN. I mean there is no important which OS type (Linux or Windows) installed on server. Am I right ?
Please advise linux firmware .BIN files how can be used to update server ?
The server is R940

The way I would be using the DUP from the OS, but with it being Oracle Linux, I am not 100% if the update package would work from there. You may try booting to the Live ISO, then run the RHEL uodate package from there.

Please clarify for me the below.
To configure iSM , I used below commands :
1) racadm set idrac.os-bmc.PTMode usb-p2p
2) racadm set idrac.os-bmc.UsbNicIpAddress 169.254.1.2
3) racadm set idrac.os-bmc.adminstate enabled
Am I correct ?
there is parameter for Host OS IP in iDRAC web. I have to define it for HOST IP address or 169.254.1.2 which is in same subnet as iDRAC ?
