VRTX PCIe Mezz DP/N differences?

Is there any functional difference DP/N 3N9XX and 6YCP8 PCIe passthrough mezzanine for M620 when installed in Dell VRTX?

The 3N9XX is properly listed in most places as a PCIe passthrough but the 6YCP8 sometimes comes up as a 10Gb adapter for some reason even though listed as an alternate to 3N9XX.

Thanks.

Dajinn,

The two cards are listed as interchangable, but the underlying difference between the two is that 3N9XX is the V2 release of the card, and also shows as the replacement to 6YCP8.

Hope this helps.

N2ocharged,

I am not seeing anything specific, as both the M520 and M630 reflect just the 3N9XX part number. In my opinion though it is likely the V1 version of the card. Now as far as the error you are seeing, it may be that there is a device or part in the vrtx that requires the other version, due to age or something. Would you confirm if either of the cards work in the M630, or if the other works in the M520?

Let me know what you see.

Good Day,

I hope everyone is doing well... I would like to first apologize for resurrecting a dead thread... I see that the 3N9XX is the V2 of the Mezzanine card, however, when I pop it into my M630 blade I get an error about the configuration, upon closer inspection, I notice there are 2 different part numbers on the 3N9XX cards...

CN-03N9XX-WS300-73M-007F-A00

CN-03N9XX-70163-523-00KV-A00

What is the difference between the 2 cards?

I understand looking it up is obviously the best way, however, my google skills are lacking with these and I cannot find not much about them... what I did find is that the WS300 version (according to a seller on eBay) is for the M520/M620 but does not list the M630 blade.

Thanks,

Nate

I can neither confirm or deny anything about the M520/M620 blades, I only have M630 blades.

The only thing I can think of is that I have 2 different versions in the blade and is why I am getting the error about configuration. I don't have that machine booted all the time so when I get a chance, I will boot and verify the error I'm getting.

I will also see about picking up the non-WS300 card as one of my other blades has dual CN-03N9XX-70163-523-00KV-A00 cards installed and is not getting an error.

I was more curious whether or not there was a difference and if it was going to impact the functionality or compatibility later on. The machine still boots into the OS, I can access the iDrac, and it connects at 10Gb so it appears it is not being impacted too much.

Thanks for the reply, Chris.

03N9XX is the part number and both card have the same part number. Hence both card will be same. Can you give more details on configuration error you are seeing with this blade. What chassis you have is it M1000e or VRTX.

I've got a VRTX chassis. This is the part number I've been told I needed to make the M series blades work with this chassis.

I appreciate everyone's replies. I have thought about getting a Dell M640 to replace one of my M630 blades. Most of them that are relatively inexpensive do not come with raid controllers but appear to have the M.2 modules in them.

Can anyone from Dell tell me what part number I would need for the Mezz cards, Raid controller (H740P), and the M.2 controller card (if needed).

Additionally, does the M640 need a raid controller if it has the M.2 controller? I read someplace that it is a raid controller for the M.2 drives but I cannot recall 100%.

Thanks.

Hello n2ocharged

Pn#3N9XX - PWA,RSR,SV,PCIE,MEZZ,VRTX,V2 is validated for the M640

Pn#YRPP6 - ASSY,CRD,CTL,H730P,2GB,NV,BLDEPERC 9 H730P Controller Card 2GB Mini Blade  (I do not see an H740P)

Pn#853XN - ASSY,CRD,CTL,BOSS,MDL,HWR,BLDE, ASSY Controller Card BOSS-S1 Modular, RAID 1 and Non-RAID Dual or Single M.2 Devices, Marvell ROC 88SE9230

You would still need a RAID controller as the BOSS card is Boot Optimized Storage device only.
