Powervault Modular Disk Storage Manager

Hi,

I'm trying to find the download for Powervault Modular Disk Storage Manager; I have looked everywhere and only appear to find the Modular Disk Configuration Utility.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello David,

MDSM is on the resource CD. Here is a link to the resource CD. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=VNVGW&fileId=3563250117&osCode=W12R2&productCode=powervault-md3400&languageCode=en&categoryId=CD

Now depending on your version of firmware that you are running on your MD3xxx you may need to use an older version if not running the latest version of firmware on your MD3xxx.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello. Thank you for the download link. Why is the download so slow. We have 100Mbit line, tested with speedtest, but I only receive 500KB/s from the download site. Thanks

Hi - i know this is an old string but can you use the MDSM version 2.1.0.73 with an MD3000 that's running 3.x gen 2 firmware on the controllers? I need to add an MD3220 to a legacy server running an MD3000 on the same server to move data across but wanted to confirm before I uninstall older version of MDSM for the MD3000 and install the newer version with hopes it'll support both the MD3220 and MD3000.

Thanks in advanced.

Hello glubetzky,

If you were running the latest firmware & MDSM on your MD3000, then you can use the newer version of MDSM to manage both systems.  Since you are not using the latest version of MDSM on your MD3000 then you can’t use the version for your MD3220 to manage your MD3000.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Need help. Which resource CD has the MDSM version 11.25.0G06.0026?

The DELL_MDSS_Consolidated_RDVD_6_5_0_1.iso and DELL_MDSS_Consolidated_RDVD_6_4_0_5.iso only give MDCU not MDSM.

After mount the iso, have to change directory to windows\mdsm then execute the SMIA-WinX64.exe. Follow the instruction and MDSM will be installed.

Will end up have only the MDCU if execute the md_launcher.exe in the main folder

Matembo Chirambo,

Your array management has to match your version of firmware on your controllers, or you will get an error message that states the version of MDSM is not compatible with your firmware. So it isn't just running the latest version, but based on the info you are asking, and without knowing the model storage device, it would tougher to do.

Let me know what you see, and any further details you may have.

The powerVault Disk Storage management software (Version 11.10.0G06.0005) you are attempting
to use is not compatitble with the firmware on the RAID Controller Modules in Storage Array.

If you have recently updated your RAID controller module firmware, you need to make sure that its compatible
PowerVault Modular Disk Storage Management software has also been installed on all clients connected to this array.

If the appropriate version is not available, please provide customer representatives with the following information.

RAID Controller Module Firmware version: 08.20.12.60
RAID Controller Module appware version : 08.20.12.60
Device API version required: devmgr.v1120api13.Manager.
