My Dell update stuck in a loop

I've got the exact same problem. I unistalled the app, got the My Dell app from the Microsoft Store, no other way to download, it installed. Then it wanted to update!!!! Why the latest version isn't on the Store??? I then have the same problem, starts installing the update states this could take a while, then goes back to update available... only way out is to cancel update, then app closes.

Same problem this morning on my new laptop. Called Dell support and the problem is the Fusion app thats used in the My Dell app update. The support person took control of my Win11 machine and got an updated Microsoft version of Fusion, installed it on my machine and I THINK he then uninstalled My Dell .. rebooted .. and reinstalled My Dell ..  it went through the update and it works now.

I think Dell needs to spell out the specific steps, specific download link to the Fusion app or push out a fully automated fix.

Hopefully this will be my final update on this. A Dell support person told me today that there have been a lot of customers having this problem. The issue has apparently been resolved with a new version of "My Dell" which, when installed using the Fusion Service 2.0.58.0 fixes the problem.

So the Dell support person updated my system using this procedure (for a system that has the problem):

 - Uninstall current My Dell Fusion service, uninstall My Dell, restart the computer

 - Install My Dell Fusion Service 2.0.58.0, install My Dell via the Microsoft Store

This worked for my Dell XPS 15  9510   Win11 Home.

I followed exactly the same procedure on my Dell Studio 1558  Win10 Home. With this system, after I uninstalled and restarted, I couldn't get the Microsoft Store to show the download for My Dell (to reinstall) until I restarted twice. Then the dnld/install was ok. The first time My Dell installer finished, it asked for the update which worked. If there are any other issues that surface, I'll post here.

The new version of My Dell (ABOUT link at bottom right of app window) is 2.0.30.0  (previous version 2 days ago was 2.0.24.0).

Thanks to Dell Support for getting this fixed and explaining the issue.

I'm having the same issue, and it's really annoying especially on a computer just 1 month old! I hope you and Microsoft will talk together and solve this installing loop as soon as possible, thanks.

The Dell support installed version of the Fusion service is 2.0.38.0 on my now working Win 11 XPS 15 laptop.

I'm trying to resolve the same issue on an older Dell Laptop Win10 myself which has Dell Fusion service 1.92.27.0 .. No idea how to update that to the newer version.

I was sent a link to update the Fusion Service. I have copied it to the post. Hope it helps.

Just installed Fusion service 2.0.38.0 on my older Dell Studio 1558 Win10 21H1 (thanks CharlesMH for the Fusion link),  restarted the computer (didn't explicitly uninstall My Dell after several attempts at doing the update in that loop).  On restart, My Dell opens properly (the update apparently did install automatically) and it works properly with My Dell at version 2.0.24.0

I just did the same, reinstalled Fusion from the link that was posted (even though my system said it was already installed) and rebooted. My Dell opened afterwards and is running.

Hi Alessandro,

I was advised by Dell Support to check for updates using SupportAssist and Microsoft, either of which had updates available, and also to update the Fusion service. This I did, and My Dell is now working properly. I have posted the link in the thread.
