Hard Drive upgrade
Haver a dated Latitude D620: with Windows XP.. I want to replace an 80GB Hitachi IDE to a 1TB SATA 2.5" SSD in a laptop. Is there room in the laptop to fit a IDE to SATA adapter.
Just didn't want to dismantle the laptop, if there is no way.
Thanks

No, as pretty much every laptop requires the drive to be installed in a sled or mounting bracket, which usually interfaces directly with a connector and not by a cable.
2.5" IDE SSDs can be purchased online, but they tend to cost more than SATA drives and are not made by reputable manufactures. On top of that, 128 GB appears to be the largest IDE SSD that's available, as such usage is likely meant for retro computing. Even if that wasn't the case, I have no idea if the Latitude 620 would support a drive capacity of 1 TB. 256 GB or 320 GB is likely the official limit as that was the maximum size of 2.5" hard drives at the time of the system's manufacture.
