I'm resigned to getting a new drive that fine. But can anyone help me get what data is on the drive.

Depends on whether the drive is from a desktop or notebook - and what type of drive it is.  We'll need a lot more information before we can offer assistance.

I would suggest you to use Advanced Disk Recovery software. I also use this software and 90% of my deleted data was recovered easily. Using this you will be able to recover data from hard drive and other storage devices.
